How much are you paying for tablecloths?

Mika, on September 21, 2012 at 3:14 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 29

My caterer wants 8 dollars per table to rent tablecloths... this seems a little excessive to me! What are you all paying, and are you renting or buying?

Our family style dinner package came with "standard" linens - 60" round ivory or white tablecloths (not floor length), and napkins in a rainbow of colors.

If we had wanted to upgrade to floor length, the upgrade would have started at $16/table. We passed on that!

Our venue provides white table cloths, but I am buying purple overlays for $7 a piece (so I can sell them after and get my money back).

If you think about it though, $8 a table isn't really all that much considering it's chairs you will have a lot of, but not tables. We will only have 10-13 tables, so I didn't mind spending this extra to have a little more color. But I figured, if I'm going to pay that much to rent I might as well buy so I can at least try to get some of my money back after the wedding.

We are getting a full set up for 45.00 which includes our choice of black or white linens, 10 chairs and a 60' table. I think they are charging 5.00 per linen

We could have rented them for $5 a piece but we found them on craigslist to buy for $5 a piece. We bought them so we could sell them when we are done. You can buy them brand new for $8 normally

That's cheap. Well depends where you are. It's $10 to $12 rental here. I plan to purchase mine and resell.

My venue has white linen table cloth and chair covers but they are polyester and FH doesn't want the polyester (come to think of it I really like the satin) but anyway, I'm trying to decide what we are going to do b/c the linen company they partner with has satin table cloths that cost $35 (we are using silver) a piece. I am looking at purchasing those and the silver satin self tie chair covers b/c it would be cheaper but I'm hesitant b/c I'm not sure how I will steam them b4 (venue might do it I haven't asked) or clean and steam aftewards. Dilema!

Considering what my venue's linen place would charge to rent, I think you are getting a pretty good price.

I bought mine at $9 per cloth. Cheaper than renting in my area, for some reason any wedding rental items are ridiculously expensive! And I'm just in Iowa!

Our venue has white and ivory available, but because we are doing only white flowers, I wanted something more dramatic. I could kick myself, but they are $14.95 a piece and we're renting them.

The tablecloths are $6 for white and $9 for any color (including ivory). They don't even go all the way to the floor - which is annoying, but with all the chairs around the table, no one can tell.

My Aunt (our caterer) suggested we rent from one company, so I called them, but they were all booked up for our date, so they recommended another company. Called them, $11 a piece (I thought that was a little pricey, but what the heck, we needed them). Well when my Aunt found out she put the kibosh to that. The original company was like $2 a table cloth. She then lent us their round table clothes that were good enough for our small rectangle tables... and free.

I would try to get them to throw in something free, table cloths are something these places already have in stock, it's your day, make them go above and beyond for you, offer to pay for standard length but ask as their gift to you to make them floor length in the color of your choice.

My venue had standard table cloths in white, and as their "gift" to me they are giving me floor length in the color I choose with napkins. And if I want runners that is what they will charge for.

Just a thought, think about how much you are already giving them, have they done anything to impress you yet? This is something simple and no cost for them to do. (o:

    best wishes!

That's not bad, unless you have 600 guests.

Renting from another place of buying them won't be much cheaper. And if you buy them, you will have to iron them, and somebody will have to set them up. You will also have to clean them if you want to resell them.

If you have 10 tables, that's $80. It's worth it.

I think it really depends on how much work you want to do. If you don't want to worry about it then $8 really isn't bad as far as rentals go. When we were looking it was around $12 each in my area.

But if you will have the time and help, you can buy them for that price and then re-sell. But like Mrs. S said, it does take more work. We bought ours used for about $7 each, and we are reselling them for around $6 each, so we will be making back about 80% of what we spent.

In my area 8 bucks is a STEAL for just the OVERLAY in satin i would be RENTING 24 bucks a table.

Needless to say i will be BUYING and reselling or paying it forwards after the wedding. www.linentablecloth.com has been good to other brides here like Shannah G. has already bought and received some. Mine are currently out of stock since their labor day sale, just waiting for them to restock Smiley smile

That is cheap. In my area, you're looking at 9-15.00 for colored poly or poly cotton.

Don't forget; you're not just paying for the cloth; it's the delivery, and NOT having to wash and iron them before you sell them. I've done that too; it's not pretty.

Our package came with a standard poly-linen tablecloth in a color of our choice. Of course, we fell in love with one of their 'upgradeable' linens. So we're spending an extra $180 for linens for 10 tables.

Our venue provides tablecloths, linens 'free'...whatever color you are looking for. We're going with white (zzzz) and adding a highlight runner in slate blue for each table (12) that has cost us about $35 per runner (for fabric,cutting,sewing/ironing). End result will be about $420. I'm sure they'll all get spilled on,etc....but FW says she wants to turn the spared ones into a nice dress after lol.
