How many wedding dress shops did you go too?

Hannah, on January 5, 2016 at 1:05 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 43

Hi ladies! I am just wondering how many wedding/bridal shops you went to before you found "the dress". I am wondering how many different places I should go to to make sure I don't limit myself but I also don't want to over do it either. Thanks!

I did a walk-in appointment at one and tried about four dresses. Then a couple days later I had two appointments in the same day and tried on four or five dresses at each. My final appointment was the following day; I tried four dresses and one of those four was it. Don't make more than two appointments in one day; it's so exhausting and overwhelming. Definitely do your research beforehand about styles that you like so that you're not just fishing in the dark, but also let your consultant do her job and pull something you might be unsure of, because you never know what you'll like once it's on your body! Edited for clarity

First I went to DB and tried on about 6 or 7.

Then I went to a bridal salon in DE and found my dress....I tried on about a dozen that day

2 - I had appointments at two others scheduled for the day after, but I decided a the second store that was the one and made the purchase. Out of those two stores, I probably tried on about 10-12 gowns in total. It was my first day dress shopping too!

I had two appointments the same day. I tried on roughly 10 dresses at my first (to figure out what style I liked the best) and 4 at my second. I thought I found my dress at the first appointment, but I ended up going with the last dress I tried on! Glad I went to the second store!

One. I found the process really overwhelming and wanted to get in and out. Not the best reason to decide, but it worked out. Thank god my consultant was amazing and found something perfect so quickly, because I probably would have settled for something less ideal.

I went to four stores and had a fifth scheduled, but cancelled because I found my dress early in the searching process and didn't think I needed to go to that last store.

I went to two different boutiques. My dress was a combination of the first and third dress I tried on at the first store.

I had 2 appointments; first at Alfred Angelo where I tried on about 5 dresses and then at Davids Bridal where I tried on about 3 dresses. I fell in the love with the first dress I tried on at AA and went back that day and bought it! I thought I would go to about 15 stores and try on 20 or so dresses at each because I am soooo picky! It went much quicker than I thought and the dress was even way under my budget!

Also I would recommend not starting at David's Bridal (if you go there at all). I realize they are all different so maybe the one by me is just especially bad but my experience there was horrible! I had an appointment but they didn't have a room to put me in at first; and the consultant kept pulling dresses that were way too small (they did come in my size at the store she just didn't know what she was doing) and not at all what I wanted. I showed her the dress I was in love with at the time as well as a few others I would like but she just wasn't getting it for some reason. Then both her and her manager kept trying to pressure me into 2 dresses that did not look good on me at all (my sisters agreed with me). But my other appointment made me feel special and like a princess and it was wonderful!!

First store. Tried on maybe 7? I was done the second I put on MY dress. I put it on in a different color. I said no I want to go back to the last one. She asked if I wanted to try on a few more but I didn't need to

I found my dress the first shop I looked at. My MOH took me to go look at bridesmaid dresses but I took a peak at the wedding dresses and found the one. I didn't try it on then because my mom wasn't with me. I made an appointment a couple of months later at a few places and the bridal shop with my dress was the last stop. I said yes to it when I tried it on!

I went to every shop in the area...so 2. I went to a small boutique first, and while I found my dream dress, it was over budget. Then I went to DB, and tried on probably 30 dresses over the course of 3 different days. I found one I liked, and ended up buying it.

I went 2 boutiques. One was scheduled and one we walked in because we stumbled upon it and my mom remembered that she heard of that boutique. I found my dress unexpectedly!

Three shops in one day. I found two "maybes" at the first shop and would have returned for one of them if I hadn't found my "hell yes" dress at the third shop.

I ended up only going to one. I didn't intend to find a dress so soon, but it was basically my dream dress! I tried on about a dozen gowns.

I expected to go to two or three, but had already done a lot of browsing online.

One dress that I loved started to sell out, so I called DB to see about trying it on in store and they said no stores (nationwide) had that one in stock anymore to try on. I was sure it would never work, but didn't want to always wonder, so I ordered the dress online and figured I'd just need to ship it back. Nope. Fit like a dream and exactly what I wanted.

Let's hope the rest of my planning goes that smoothly!

    I only went to one.

It was the same place one of my best friends bought a dress and I loved the designers they carried... I tried on about 15 dresses total and started crying when I saw myself in the mirror.

There is no right or wrong answer though. Goes with what works for you :3
