How long were you together before getting engaged/married?

We were together 7 years before we got engaged . We have been engaged for 18mos...

We got together September 2010, moved in together September 2011 and he popped the question December 2013! We will have been together 4.5 years almost to the day when we tie the knot!

My FH and I were friends for 9 years before we started dating. If we would've dated when we met in our mid 20's it never would've lasted and I wouldn't be marring him in 400 and some odd days lol. We both had a lot of things we needed to go through before getting to where we are now. Oh he proposed to me a year and a month after we started dating.

I'd like to add that my brother proposed to his wife 6 months after they met... Married 8 months after the proposal and 10 years later, they have got to be one of the happiest couples I know! But every situation is different.

My fh proposed right before our 2 year dating anniversary and we will be married right before our 3 year dating anniversary. His brother proposed 6 months after meeting his fiancee and they will be engaged for 9 months. Time doesn't dictate whether you'll make it or not, your love and willingness to work together does.

We were together for five years before got engaged a year ago.

We were together a year and a half when he proposed. We will have been together for two and a half years when we get married. I completely agree with what some of the others have said, the length of time you have been together doesn't dictate how much you love each other or how long your marriage will last. I've know people that proposed after knowing someone for 3 months and had 3 month engagements and others that have been together for 13 years and engaged for about 6 months with no immediate plans of marriage. Every relationship is different. There are some times you just KNOW. Don't let people make you second guess your decision or relationship.

2.5 years together before engaged

We've known eachother for five years. Been together almost 3.

We got engaged after dating a year and a half. We will be married after being together for 3.5 years.

My parents have been married 24 years, they got engaged after 8 months and married within a year and a half of knowing eachother.

My friend had dated her man for 4 years, got engaged and married within 5years of dating, and they just got a divorce.

I don't think years matter all that much. I think it depends upon the person and your relationship.

My brother thinks differently. He feels he needs to be in a relationship for at least five years before he purposes because then he will know for sure. This may change when he meets the one, but as for now that is his philosophy.

As long as you two are happy thats what matters!

FH and I were together for almost 9 years when he proposed. We had talked about it many times and knew we wanted to get married, but we both wanted a traditional proposal and e-ring. We will get married 10 years from when we met/started dating.

He proposed on our one year anniversary.
