How long before your wedding did you buy your dress?

Bought mine in Jan, wedding in June. Since it was on sale it came in early February.

I bought mine 4 days after I was engaged!! haha Impatient much? It was off the rack, not ordered. And it was 9 months before my date.

Engaged - 9/2/11

Dress Shopping - 10/14/11 when my mom traveled up from North Carolina to Boston to go shopping with me. I ending up buying my dress at the first store we went to.

Expected arrival of dress - 2/15/12

ACTUAL arrival of dress - 1/5/12

First fitting - 3/17/12

Second fitting - 4/4/12 (next Wednesday)

Third - ? we'll see if I need one

Wedding - 5/5/12

Thanks ladies! This helps. My Mom will be visiting this month and were going dress shopping here in Germany but due to higher dress prices here I may wait and buy one when I am in the states in Aug which will be 8 months before my date still.

I just bought mine 2 weeks ago but I am not ordering it for another 2 weeks. And my wedding is Halloween so about 6-7 months out. My dress shop said it can come in slow 4-5 months or they can rush it to me faster if I want.

I just bought mine. I was able to get the sample size and got 25% off plus another $100 off. My wedding is about 5 months away. They told me to call 3 months before to schedule the alterations and they will do them 2 months before.

So I gather that if you have to order the dress, it takes around 3 months to come in. They usually ask for half down in that instance. (A lot of them come from China even though they are ordered by a bridal salon. i.e. House of Wu -a parent company for a lot of designer names.)

Then they want you to give the seamstress another 2 months before the wedding to get it perfect. Soo..time yourself thinking about those timelines. Unless you are the perfect size for an off-the-rack dress that needs no alterations or fixing.

I ogt mine 14 months before the wedding.

Ordered mine last week and wedding in October.

Dress Shopping: early Dec , got the dress on Jan 19th and wedding in May 11th

One year and 4 weeks. Which was too early for me. I wish I had waited until 9 months out, I spent a summer second-guessing myself. I probably would have purchased the same dress (or maybe not, I don't know), but I wouldn't have agonized over it so much.

Bought mine 7 months before the wedding...but found it 10 months before.

Expected to arrive before Christmas didn't arrive till 1/20

first fitting 1/26

second and final: 3/8

10 months... and last month I just bought another one because I made my decision too quick. Make sure you LOVE it! My new dress I didn't want to take off. Wish I would have found it first.

We got engaged on October 7,2011. I bought my dress on December 17,2011 and it is expected to arrive in mid-June for my September wedding.

Engaged in May 2011, started looking end of June/ First of July. Ordered my dress in August, received in November.

I ordered mine in Jan or Feb. I was married in October.

I do know when I ordered it was going to take a bit longer because of the Chinese New Year.

My daughter ordered hers at the end of December, and they keep telling her it isn't coming in until June. I totally did not get that timing at all.

Over a year actually. Hmm. Kind of "super duper" to get it so early lol

Purchased mine 10 months in advance of my wedding day.

Purchased mine early-mid December, recieved it mid January. Wedding is May 19th!
