How important are wedding shoes?

ZimWifey, on September 15, 2017 at 3:47 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 101

Ladies, how much thought/money did you put into your shoes? I thought this was such a minor detail, mostly because my dress is floor length and no one will see my shoes (I think). I was honestly going to use a pair of wedges that are comfy (but definitely don't match my dress). But my mom and BM are encouraging me to go high class since they think the shoes are an important detail that people will pay attention to. Thoughts??

I just had this same dilemma. I went to about 14 stores looking for shoes because everyone kept telling me to get nice shoes. I was having a really hard time justifying spending $100 on shoes I would never wear again. I ended up getting a pair of blue heels from Macy's for $50 that I know I'll use again! No one will see them - your photographer might take one photo of them, but that's it. Don't stress about it (like I did!)

Honestly...you are going to on your feet alot. Your dress is long. Wear comfy shoes. My cousin wore flipflops under hers and no one knew until she told people. Do you, it is your day after all.

Sooo... context: I found some really cool lacy heels on etsy that had dragon wings on the back of them. Absolutely loved them. Showed my MOH and she said she really wanted to make them for me. She did, and they were gorgeous.

They fell apart within an hour. All this to say - nobody noticed at all that lace was falling off my shoes, except me, because my dress went down to the floor. I eventually just took them off. I don't think shoes matter that much when you have a floor-length dress.

I would make sure they go with your dress, but a simple neutral color will suffice. You don't have to have anything crazy. I'm doing simple pointed toe flats with an ankle strap.

I am using shoes I already have after buying wedding shoes that were so pretty but soooo uncomfortable. In theory you will be kin these shoes for 8+ hours of standing, walking, and dancing so my priority is comfort with a little cuteness.

If your dress is long, nobody will see them and nobody will care. That being said, I still spent an unnecessary amount of time picking out the "perfect" shoes to go under my ballgown. If you don't think you will see them much, you don't have to worry about it if you don't want to.

    I have a shoe addiction, so....lol

But, people will NOT pay attention to your shoes if you're wearing a floor length gown - how can they when they won't see them? They will only see them in your "details" photos should you choose to share them.

I'm pretty sure my wedding shoes cost $12 (DSW clearance). They're a good brand that won't be uncomfortable, but nobody is going to see your shoes unless your dress is longer. Unless you plan to wear the shoes again, I wouldn't spend much on them.

I'd say go for shoes that you feel good in. Whether that means cute but comfy or really dressy, that's up to you.

I found a pair of shoes that I love that are pretty but I'm sure they'll hurt eventually, so have a comfier pair to change in to later in the day.

I have a rather unhealthy obsession with shoes, lol but that also means I had an idea of what I wanted. My dress won't quite reach the floor with my shoes on i'll have about an inch of heel showing cuz I don't want to trip on the dress! I'm short, FH is tall. I'm going barefoot for the ceremony (on the beach) and wearing nude/beige block heels for the reception. I chose block heels b/c part of the outdoor reception area is grass and i don't want to sink into the ground. Also waaaaayyyyyy more comfy than stilettos! hahaha. Last 2 weddings I was in the bride wore nice shoes for the ceremony and dinner then put flip flops on to dance in. You do you girl!

ETA: Got mine at DSW for about $50, will def wear them again. Even wearing them now trying to break them in a bit!

I got mine on sale at DSW for $30. I've never really been into designer fashion in general so spending hundreds on a pair of shoes no one would see felt frivolous.

I spent $30 bucks on sparkly looking flat sandals that I could easily wear again. I cared more about comfort than anything and no one saw my shoes.

For me - minor detail. Wanted them to be pretty but was unwilling to spend any significant amount of money.

I feel like if your dress is to the floor than it's true, no one (or very few people) will see them and comfort is key! That being said; my gown is tea length and my shoes will be visible the entire night. Nonetheless I bought a plain, comfortable heel in the color I wanted from JCPennys for about $35..so even tho they are a more important detail to me I still didn't shell out a ton of money for them. I don't think a price tag makes them any more or less special to you!

I spent an ungodly amount of time looking at shoes because my MOH insisted that I have something nice. In the end I settled on $75 Kate Spade Keds. My FH is short so heels proved problematic. I can justify the amount spent because I will definitely wear them again.

I'm wearing the shoes I wore to my sister's wedding like 8 years ago. Unless you have a short skirt I don't think it matters that much.
