How important are wedding shoes?

Ladies, how much thought/money did you put into your shoes? I thought this was such a minor detail, mostly because my dress is floor length and no one will see my shoes (I think). I was honestly going to use a pair of wedges that are comfy (but definitely don't match my dress). But my mom and BM are...

But my mom and BM are encouraging me to go high class since they think the shoes are an important detail that people will pay attention to. Thoughts??

I will be wearing lace toms because they're comfy and odds are no one will see them anyway. If they do see them they're kind of cute soo.. I hate heels and cannot walk in them

I went for simple comfort. I knew no one would really see my shoes and as much as I love heels I don't love wearing them. My blue flats were $24 and I will totally wear them again.

I was originally going to just use a pair of wedges that i have in my closet already. I see no point in spending a ton of money on something that no one will see and I will never wear again. I ended up looking for a new pair but set a strict budget of $30 and did not care what color they were. The only reason I decided to look is because the wedges I had were very high and would mean that when I am barefoot for the ceremony it would bunch at the bottom a lot. I ended up finding a pair of white wedges at Kohls for $20. I had a $20 coupon so basically free shoes!

I plan on going cheap for my shoes, but my fashionista FH said, how can you spend thousands on a dress and tens on your shoes ? lol I'm like, you're not the one wearing heels and they won't even be seen . Duh

I got a cute pair of sparkley flats at Aldo for my graduation a few years ago and am wearing them at the wedding. Shoes just aren't that important to me.

I personally see the shoes as just a photo op really. I started off thinking the I have to find the perfect set of heels to match my dress. As a result I have about five pairs of "wedding" heels. They are all cute but honestly not something I want to wear all night. I will have the heels for the photo op but I think at the end of the day I will be wearing my Kate Spade wedding Keds.

My vote is for comfort shoes whatever that means to you.

My shoes match my theme so they are red. I got them for like $35 and they have a thick heel so they are comfy to wear. It's not like people will see them anyway if your dress is long. It's your day, wear what you want!

I had bride flip flops that I wore while getting ready. Then I had heels for the ceremony and detail shots. Then I had a nice pair of flats for dancing. But after a while I gave up and wore the flip flops lol.

My mom surprised me with a pair of blue Badgley Mischka pumps I had been staring at for weeks. I wear heels rounding in a hospital so I felt like on my special day I should be in them too lol

I don't think anyone will see your shoes...I know no one will see mine but I'm wearing purple chucks and my girls are wearing orange chucks (long dresses). I don't give a damn who doesn't like it, I absolutely cannot do heels (bad feet & knees). I'll take comfort over looking "high class".

Mine were a splurge ($100 is a splurge for me) and an impulse buy. I just knew I had to have them when I saw them.

I bought a pair of beautiful heels for $55 and I plan to get a pair of flats to change into for under that, so my hope is to spend under $100 for two shoes for the wedding. I don't consider shoes a big deal. Shoes are nice, but you can get nice shoes that are more comfortable and not insanely expensive.

Love the idea of flats for dancing. I always end up barefoot at weddings- but I guess I'll be classy since I'm the bride and put some flip flops on lol

My mom was the same way. I ended up with dressy silver wedges from DSW clearance that will also go on my honeymoon.
