How important are wedding shoes?

Ladies, how much thought/money did you put into your shoes? I thought this was such a minor detail, mostly because my dress is floor length and no one will see my shoes (I think). I was honestly going to use a pair of wedges that are comfy (but definitely don't match my dress). But my mom and BM are...

But my mom and BM are encouraging me to go high class since they think the shoes are an important detail that people will pay attention to. Thoughts??

I have my eye on some cute little pumps that are like $30 but I'm gonna ask my BM if they like them first cuz I always need a second opinion lol but I agree it should just be what makes you feel the most confident and comfortable

I'm not spending a lot of money on mine at all. I only wanted shoes that were going to show off my personality. I don't care what they look like, how they match my dress, décor, or anything else. My colors are Teal and Grey.

I'm wearing bright red one inch heals for the ceremony, and either boots or flip-flops for the reception. Red because it's my favorite color, and because I'm known for bright and bold colors.

And boots or flip-flops because I'm also known to only ever wear one or the other.

So I think they're only as important as they are to you. Shoes were important to me, only for showing off personality. I've encouraged my wedding party to do the same. They can wear whatever shoes they like. Smiley smile

Haha, I love the price range here. Didn't think of the detail shots so maybe I will get something that is nice (but still cheap). Thanks!

I obsessed over the shoes until I went it to pick up my dress from delivery. I put them all together to try on veils and accessories, and within 45 minutes, I lost feeling in my toes. So - those went back. After all was said and done, I wore a pretty pair of pink mesh heels I'd gotten for a cousin's wedding. No one saw them until they saw the wedding album.

It's really all about how important shoes are to you.

They're as important (or unimportant) as you want them to be. I got blue pumps on sale from DSW. Super comfortable, and look awesome with pants, so I've been wearing them at work.

I am definitely a 'shoe person' so my shoes are going to be high end. (It's also on my bucket list to own a pair of Louboutin's and he just so happens to have the perfect pair for the wedding) We do have a small budget and a small wedding so for a while I asked myself if it was really worth it because, like you, my dress is floor length with a chapel train so it's not like anyone will see them. However, I do already own one pair of designer shoes and the quality is exponentially higher than regular low-mid range shoes. They're more comfortable because they're well made and I can wear them for longer periods of time. I also decided/realized that OF ALL THINGS being purchased for my wedding, if chosen wisely (in regards to style), they're the only thing I'll be able to wear over and over again and really get my money's worth. If you're worried about it being a small detail I'd just make sure they were a bigger detail. Look for photo ideas with a focus on the shoes that way you feel like they're not wasted. They have very pretty ones of the bride holding her shoes and walking away from the camera.

So my suggestions would be if you decided to splurge on shoes but need it to be justifiable 1. Get a style/look that works for both your wedding and for everyday special occasions so you can wear them more than once and 2. Make sure they get some spotlight in your wedding/Bridal pictures.

I'm picking my shoes up on Monday and I could not be more excited or impatient.

I'm a shoe freak so shoes were important to me. They were photographed but other than that you couldn't actually see them under the dress.

I bought a pair of low heels in purple. I wanted special shoes even though no one saw them.

    Got them from bridalshoes.com

I love shoes so I splurged on mine. They may not be seen during the wedding, but I'll know if they're tacky:-). I also plan to wear them after the wedding...somehow (they're glitter pumps).

It's a personal taste thing. Don't let anyone talk you into spending more money than you budgeted or planned to spend...on ANYTHING! People mean well, but the costs of those small details add up.

I'm a shoe person, so I put more thought into my shoes than most people would. I did end up changing into flip flops at the reception later, but I lasted a good 8 hours on brand new 4 inch heels. And I wear them lots.

I don't think you HAVE to spend a lot of time on finding "wedding" shoes though. Wear what you want!

ETA: I also had several shoe photo ideas I wanted the photographer to capture, so that also helped justify the cost to me. One of those canvases is going to hang in my closet for fun!

Personally, I think shoes are important, but not worth breaking the bank. I happened to come across a pair of Badgley Mischka flats at Nordstrom Rack for $50 & in great condition.

I'm not a big shoe person and I didn't put much thought into it, but I found some $13 heels that went well with my dress. Ultimately wore $20 sparkly flats that complemented the beading on my dress. We did have the shoe game at our reception so people did see my shoes and complimented me on them.

Honestly, I was really concerned with shoes, but then I wasn't finding anything I love. Now I may just do cute flat sandals and call it a day. My dress is long and no one will see my feet anyway! I don't need the photographer to take a before pic of just my shoes either...I wouldn't stress too much about it Smiley smile

My FW and are planning on getting Chaco sandals that match our wedding colors. Could still change, but at least I know we'll be comfy and we can wear them again.

I thought about how much I hate heels so I spent $40 on a white pair of vans.

Long dress so nobody will see. Plus I wear vans all the time so it fits me
