Going to salon vs hair/MUA coming to you?

Linds, on September 1, 2016 at 1:09 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 16

I'm just booking my hair/make up for the wedding, and found out there's an option for the hair stylist/MUA to come to us. It's a slight up charge per style ($10 extra), and a $50 fee for her to travel to us.

The salon is only 2 miles from the hotel we will be getting ready at. There are 5 of us total getting our hair done, so it would cost me an extra $100, and a little more if we do make up in house too.

Would you think it's worth the extra $$ if we don't have to travel? I know it's not far, but the going in and out of places and having people see us wouldn't happen if she came to us. Just trying to decide if I want to shell out the extra cash, or if we should just drive there ourselves.

I believe them coming to you is completely worth the extra cost. So nice to just relax and have them come to you.

I thought it was worth the extra cost to have them come to us.

I'm going to the salon, but it's just my nana and I getting our hair done. If I was having my whole bridal party getting done then I would have the stylist come to us.

I think I'm going to go to the hair salon and have the MUA come to me. Still not sure though. I'm going to talk to the hair people this weekend because it would be nice to just stay at the venue.

I am having both hair and MUA come to me at the hotel. I have a total of five people getting ready and we are all OOT so that option worked best for me. It's a little more money but worth it, I think.

It was suggested by my day of coordinator that we have hair and makeup done onsite. That way if it ends up running late, it won't snowball and mess the whole time line up as it would if we were running late and not even at the venue yet.

So I'm paying a travel fee for my Hair/MUA. I think it's like 1$ a mile from the salon to the venue. It's worth it to me to not run the risk of being late, not having to rush from place to place. That kind of thing.

The year I got married, a friend got married a few months before. I had hair and make up come to the hotel suite where we were getting ready while for the friend's wedding, everyone went to a salon. I loved the ease of having hair and make up onsite. For me, it created a much more relaxed atmosphere where everyone could easily speak/joke with one another (keeping me calm in the progress). At the salon, we were all "spread out" and didn't see one another until everyone was done and we ended up sitting around waiting while the bride's make up was getting completed. Plus the hair salon didn't allow food so by the time we got to the wedding we were starving (only time for a quick breakfast before meeting up with bride to hear to salon, then a short time to put on dresses and fix our own make up before the limo to the church).

If I wasn't the only one getting done I would have had her come to us. Since I am the only one using her that morning I am going to her salon. I am actually looking forward to some alone/quiet time to calm my nerves. also to prepare for the 150 person reception!! lol

I've had hair and makeup come for 3 weddings I was a bridesmaid and this will be the route I choose as well. It was so easy and relaxing! You get to really hang out with your friends and family. It's also a nice time to sit out food to munch on so you're not starving by the time of the reception.

We're going to the salon--it's just my mom and I--because it's such better lighting/way more comfortable for me. I'm doing my hair/MU from 9:30-12:00 and the wedding isn't until 5 so there's no time crunch...I gave her two extra hours in there just in case.

I had mine come to us. Primarily because I didn't want to be outside sweating. Mine charged slightly higher prices, but no travel fee for coming about 5 miles.

I'd say splurge for comfort's sake.

I'm only going to my hair stylist/MUA's salon the morning of because we're going to take first look pics in that area so it saves time for me. Otherwise I think I'd pay to have her come to my place even though it's only like a mile away from her salon.

I would definitely advise having your MUA and hair stylist coming to you on the wedding day. It will make everything so much easier. The last thing you want to do is run around the morning of your wedding. It should be a time to be pampered and drink some bubbly. That's just my two cents and what I will be doing for my day.

I'm having them come to us on our wedding day! It is TOTALLY worth it. Your extra fee isn't bad at all. Imagine if its really windy or rainy that day. That extra money will definitely be worth it. =)

Mine are both coming to me and it was cheaper than going into the salon!
