Four Weddings!

Cassie, on December 14, 2012 at 2:35 PM Posted in Planning 0 22

I recieved a call back about being casted for Four Weddings (for my Philadelphia May 2013 wedding). I honestly applied thinking I would never hear back or have a shot so very surprised!!! Now, I am not sure if we should do it. My fiance is worried that it will take away from our big day (cameras, attention on the show guests, etc). There is no compensation for the show, but you have a chance to win a honeymoon.

Has anyone been on the show, been to a wedding that was on the show or just have a general opinion?

We've discussed that show a few times before on here. If you search for Four Weddings you should see the posts.

I would not. I want well wishers at my wedding not people who critisize the way my friends play music (the band) or make fun of my dress or something. I only want those who really love me and want the best for me there... and don't wanna pay for alcohol and food for some bitches when I can seat 4 more friends

Pretty much was Mrs. Smith said. I'd rather pay for my own honeymoon, I haven't really seen them give a honeymoon *THAT* extravagant.

I've thought about it, I don't think it will hurt anything. I personally don't want anyone judging my day. If you do it, make sure you let us know so we can watch!

Guilty confession, if they did an episode for 2013 around my wedding date in California I think I would go for it. I know the criticism from the other judges WOULD take away from the specialness of the wedding day, but I think it’d be neat to have my wedding featured on TV and have the chance to win a free honeymoon. But I also can see why people don’t like the show. You put all this time, money, and effort into your special day and then you have to hear how crappy some of it was? It can be disappointing. I guess you just have to take everything said with a grain of salt and try not to take it personally!

I am a fan of the show. However, I'm not sure I want people there to judge "our" moment. People tend to be very critical and it can take away from your moment and your choices!! There tends to be enough pressure to have an amazing day..I guess if you bring America in on it, it would intensify. Just my opinionSmiley smile

I wouldn't do it...besides all of the above mentioned downsides, you have only a 25% chance of winning the honeymoon, and you have a 75% chance of having critical people at your wedding, potentially being embarrassed on TV, and getting NOTHING from the experience. Also, your finace isn't comfortable with it.

I can go either way on this one. But I am totally with WasSoon2BMrsSmith. Winning a honeymoon would be nice, BUT you only have a 25% chance that you will win. I mean, it's just a honeymoon. Nowadays, a good honeymoon isn't THAT expensive. Now if they were chippin in on the expenses/reimbursing me for my wedding costs...well then we can talk, OKAAAAAAAAYYYY!!

But CONGRATS on being selected! And PLEASE let us know when it airs! I would love to watch if you decide to be on the show.

Its not really the critiquing of the wedding that would bother me, I mean, I know what I am signing up for and I will be doing the same to their weddings as well. I think that it woudl be so fun to go to the other weddings and so memorable to have my wedding on TV!!

I am just wondering if it is distracting (beyond what's it worth). I have read some of the other posts about Four Weddings but it's really just opinions about the show, I hoping to find someone who has maybe been a guest at one of them.

Believe this is a post about the brides that was on Four Weddings, perhaps that'll help your discussion...

I mean. I don't think it would be distracting because people hire videographers anyway. If you aren't worried about being critiqued then go for it!!

If you do it can you please not be a bitch. I mean you can give what ever low number you want but you don't need to be mean and catty all day. I will think you are a great person if you go on that show and compliment things, I mean when judging you can say 6 for the dress cause I think she would have pulled off mermaid and should have, or something bt I hate it when people complain that there is peanut chicken cause who puts peanuts on chicken. Some of the girls on there have lived under a rock then judeg cause dinner is curry at an indian wedding. Hmmm get a clue. Or judge cause the greek orthodox wedding needs subtitles meanwhile both FH and FW are greek orthodox... keep it real.

I went to a wedding this past July that was filmed by 'My Fair Wedding' , David TUtera. After attending that wedding my fiance and I decided we would NEVER want our wedding filmed for a tv show.

It wasn't about them and their day, it was about the show getting the drama story lines and the correct shots. The wedding started 2 hours late, plus there was a two hour cocktail hour. Yes the wedding was nice but it didn't FEEL like a wedding. We felt like we were extras on a TV show!!

I think it would be fun to do the show if you're both comfortable with it. I love watching to show. FH watches with me, but I know he would not want to do the show and that's cool with me. I just don't like when they pit up a 6k wedding with a 70k wedding. That makes no sense to me. But go for it, have fun and give constructive criticism on what the bride could actually influence, not something like it all got windy all of a sudden. But good luck.

Lena, I would totally be pissed with them messing with my timeline. Besides, I'd NEVER want to be on MFW. I don't think his ideas are better than mine. He might have better resources to implement the ideas, but I'd hate for him to come in and want to change everything I've been planning. I'm attached.

Can I just say that I HATE how the brides on that show often criticize other peoples' cultural traditions. "Oh, the ceremony was too long." That's what Catholic masses are. "There was too much loud music and the carnival dancers were scantily clad and it was inappropriate." Sorry that you're a prude and your culture doesn't advise having fun.

We just met up with our wedding DJ last week and she had a bride that was on Four Weddings Phoenix. Her wedding actually won but the DJ said the bride regretted doing it. the tv crews got in the way, they made them re do things and the bride was so focused on how she would appear on tv that she didn't enjoy her day.

    Just thought I'd share!
