So I went to David's yesterday and I was so excited to try on dresses. I've been saying I'm gong to lose some weight for months since I've been engaged, but I have been really lazy. So I went to David's yesterday and I was so excited to try on dresses. I've been saying I'm gong to lose some weight for months since I've been engaged, but I have been really lazy. Not to mention I have a work from home job so I sit ALL DAY LONG. I originally thought I would wear a size 10 dress because I have big boobs and I wear a size 7 jeans. Well I try n my first dress and I won't even zip past the middle of my torso. So we get a 12 dress and it just barely zips! I was completely devastated! I ended up having to try on size 14 dresses the whole time I was there, they were saggy in the hips and stomach ares but they fit in the chest area. I just went in the changing room and cried;( I really never realized I was SO big. I found one dress that I really like but I can't get pass the weight issue, I'm seriously getting on the ball with taking control of my weight. I'll post the pic of the dress and nobody laugh because I know I looks a mess, disregard the birdcage as well.

Size is just a number - it means nothing! Dresses generally run smaller than your normal clothes (bathing suits are the same way). Forget about the number and think about how you FEEL in the dress. You look beautiful! Smiley smile

Are you KIDDING ME???? You look freaking fantastic in that dress!! Don't pay attention to the size numbers...bridal is notorious for being much larger than regular street clothes. You wear a size 7 jeans--don't lose sight of that. Your job is to find the dress of your dreams--the seamstresses will make it fit you no matter what the number is!

You look magnificent! Wedding dresses run small so your going to be a size or two bigger in wedding dresses. It sucks because as brides we want to look our very best, but we don't always feel our best when the wedding dress is a bigger size than what we normally wear! But, you still look absolutely beautiful!!

YOU LOOK FABULOUS! Really I wouldn't lie. The dresses do run small there I am like a 5 in womens clothing normally and there I am a 10 so really it's not you and you are quite well endowed up top so believe me you look great. Just to show you I am 5'10 and 135lbs in a size 10. The one in the pic is a 14. Honestly I'm a little worried because i think I should have gone with a 12.

Oh hunny don't worry. Fh loves you for you. Dresses do run small. I have to go up 7 dress sizes because I'm so awkward. I have big boobs and no butt.

David's runs small!!! And you look great in that dress! If you are serious go online to jjsmith.com and check out her books, read and get on the ball. Although you are beautiful just how you are, we want you to be happy and feel it for your wedding day.

Mrs S was flagged?! I am shocked and confused.

Jaletia, Wedding gowns traditionally run two sizes smaller. There are gown sizes and street sizes. You look fabulous. That dress was made for you.

Oh Jaletia, that dress is made for you. It is gorgeous on you! I do not know why they make wedding dresse sizes so much smaller than real life sizes! That makes no sense to me, but they do run extremely small! You look beautiful in it!

PS I know you said ignore the birdcage, but I think it looks good too. I like it!

Number one, That dress is fantastic on you, number two, even if you lose weight, you may not get too much smaller of a bust. So you may end up still having to buy that size of a dress to fit your boobs.

I have to buy dresses to fit my hips, and then they're all saggy and baggy up top. It's a hazard of being a woman.

And, my david's bridal dress is a 14, and I weigh 200 pounds. I was lucky it fits perfect in the chest and is an A-line so my hips have plenty of breathing room! Lol. So clearly their sizing is odd because if a 120 pound person fits in a 14 and a 200 pound person firts in a 14 well, something is not quite right! Lol.

Though you ladies are making me nervous thinking that it might not fit since they're supposed to run small and I wear size 16 pants! Lol.

All wedding dresses run on the small size. Doesn't matter where you go. My consultant asked me what size I normally wear and pulled the appropriate size dress. And most women are bigger in one area and smaller in others. That is why they clip the dresses so that you get a better idea of how it will fit when it is altered. there's nothing like trying to figure out what the dress will look like when you don't have clips all the way down the back! I'm bigger up top too, Jalitia. When trying on dresses, if they don't zip up all the way, don't get discouraged. I've been to several dress shops (we found dresses at the first one, but my mom is determined to see all that is out there) and my experience has varied. I hate the outlets, though. On TV (I found the gown) they make it seem that there is a consultant in the room with you. Uhuh (well maybe at that shop) It's so fun and makes you feel so good when you have to wrestle on of those monsters on by yourself in a ...

Most dresses run small...I went in there telling myself not to look at the size, but to look at how I felt and it looked on me. You can't look at the number...although I know it is hard not to. Being one size over another doesn't make you not beautiful, and you do look great in that dress!

My consultant helped me put the gowns on Soon to Be Mrs. K. That's weird you had to go it alone!

I know a few people already said it, but wedding dresses do run small! What really matters is how you feel. If you feel good about yourself without the 'size 14' label then great! If you do not feel great because of how you feel (not how the size makes you feel) then I say try your best to schedule some workouts in your busy schedule. If you work at a desk, I have found some websites that say small exercises you can do behind your desk. Leg lifts under your desk, lifting a weight while on the phone, taking the stairs, etc. Whatever you choose to do, don't let that size get to you, I honestly think you look beautiful in your dress. If I didn't think that I wouldn't have even commented on the post.
