Dog pee on wedding dress

erin, on August 9, 2011 at 2:43 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 21

So yeah...I think the title explains it all.Our wedding is not until February, thank goodness.

So I took my wedding dress out to show my Grandmother who was visiting from New York.We were at my Moms and I brought my dogs over with me...first mistake.I took it out of the bag showing her for a good ten minutes when I look down at about 7 inches from the bottom and I see a yellow blotch.I pick it up, and of course smell it and sure enough he must of came over and peed on it.AWESOME!My mom looks at me too see if I'm gonna go bridezilla and I just burst out laughing. So everyone else laughs. The part that he marked on is going to get cut off because its too long anyway. My FH wasn't there and when I told him he made sure I wasn't upset before he burst out laughing.I'm not stressing and I just figure it will be a good story to tell.

Make sure you try and get some of it out- even though it will be cut off. You don't want it to make the dress smell. Could have had muddy paw prints..lol I am sure I will end up with dog hair on mine, but luckily she has white hair.

At least you aren't that chick in Scotland. Her husband was wearing a kilt with no underwear. He sat on her lap during the reception and left a skid mark. Ew.

What a trooper. That reminds me not to try my dress on around my dog. I have 4 pound yorkie that pees on EVERYTHING.

Yeah, I prolly would have freaked out too for a few minutes at least. Hey, that thing was SOOO expensive! But luckily it will be cut off! Maybe I would invest in having it cleaned though, just in case, before the wedding. Smiley laugh I think its awesome that you LAUGHED! You are the anti-bridezilla! Smiley laugh

To clean it out use a little cold water and some oxyclean with a clean toothbrush. It should get most of the color out, and all of the scent.

Place a clean towel underneath the stain, dip the SOFT Bristle toothbrush into the cold water, dip in to the oxyclean (make more of a paste), and using small circles to clean it out. Don't press too hard or the small blue pellets will leave blue streaks (but they come out easily with just water). Then wipe off with a clean white towel.

Another great tool is Everblum. Its an alchol based cleaner that can be found at BBB. All you do is place a clean white towel under the spot and using another clean white towel, dab it on the spot until the color is lifted. (best to do this in an open space, the fumes can be pretty heavy...)

Oh I definitely cleaned it as much as I could, didn't want to ruin it.I'm going to get it dry cleaned for sure.

J&R S-That's funny. My dog for sure a is "mama's boy".He's a pug and all I do is look at his face and smile, most days.

Pumpkins Sunshine-Wow.I had never heard that.I guess that's where the for better or for worse comes in lol.

Thanks for the advice on how to get it out.I still have to take it to get altered and I really don't want to have to explain it to the seamstress but I'm sure they've heard everything.

Ha! I'm so glad to hear that you're laughing at that. I probably would have gone bridezilla...though my dress doesn't need to be altered at the bottom...it's perfect in length with my shoes on...I would have been super sad.

Glad it was the part that has to be cut off, if it had been myself I don't believe laughter would have been what would have come out first. LOL!

@Pumpkin mouth hanging open. Iww that's disgusting!

Good for you Erin, for having such a positive outlook! I'm not sure I wouldn't have cried. hahaha I'm sure my dress is going to have dog hair on it - black dog hair. But I LOVE my dog, and my FH insists he'll be there on our day.

Are your dogs making it to the ceremony?

Rachel S.-No the dogs aren't coming, the venue doesn't allow them, but I'll probably get some pictures with them anyway.I have tuxes for them to wear.

I didn't think I would have that reaction either.I thought if something awful would of happened I would cry but I guess at the time I had my family there and I just didn't have any worries.

Actually this whole planning time I haven't been too stressed about anything.I figure "C'est la vie".It's just a big party and I want to have a good time but I have been putting everything in perspective.I think my FH is just waiting for me to be like those women on TV.I told him not everyone is like that but he doesn't believe me.
