Do you take off your engagement ring?

Julie, on March 24, 2017 at 12:06 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 74

Hey Ladies, sorry if this topic has been discussed already numerous times. I just joined the site and don't know how to search on mobile.

I was wondering if you guys take your engagement rings off when you're showering/doing dishes/etc... or if you keep it on all the time? Thoughts?

I just got engaged and don't want to hurt my ring!

Thanks!!

First off, congratulations! I take mine off when I shower, wash my face, do the dishes, work out, and go to sleep. I know some who keep theirs on 24/7!

I take mine off when I'm showering, but I don't really know why. I leave it on for everything else, except baking/cooking where i'm handling a lot of food.

I take my ring off to shower, wash dishes, handle raw meat, work out and sleep. Other than that it's on my finger!

I take it off when I'm home but wear it out like to work etc..the type of job I have if I need to use my hands, I'll lock it in my desk in my office.

I NEVER take mine off because I am so scared to lose it. I wear it in the shower, while washing dishes, etc. I just need to invest in gloves while I wash the dishes.

Orchids I showered with my ring on once and it almost slipped off my finger! Never again.

You can find the cutest ring holders on Amazon! I'm definitely more comfortable with it off when I know exactly where it is. Mine is an adorable little ceramic kitty. The tail holds the ring Smiley winking

I take mine off to lift weights, shovel snow or rake leaves, clean with bleach or other heavy duty products, and handle raw chicken.

Wow thanks everyone for the quick replies!!

That makes sense. I'm leaning more towards to side of taking it off when showering and doing the dishes

LittleDemon, thanks for the suggestion! I will definitely check it out Smiley smile

Carrina, how do you keep yours sparkly with never taking it off?

I remove it during the week because im an esthetician and work with my hands. On the weekends I leave it on 24/7, shower, sleeping etc

How could I forget about lotion?! Definitely take it off when you are applying lotion especially if you have annoying skin like me that does not like to actually absorb lotion ;P

Also OP I use a Diamond Dazzle Stik about once a week to keep my ring sparkly! It was about $9 on Amazon and bed bath and beyond has started stocking it as well Smiley smile

I take it off when I shower and sleep. I have a high setting and I flop around in bed so I'm worried I'll wack it against the bed frame or my husband.

I don't think it's going to be sparkly for long. My Aggie ring (college ring) is getting dull.

I take mine off for showering and washing dishes and also for work. I'm a hairstylist so my hands are constantly in water, chemicals, hair color, etc.

LittleDemon, thanks for the tip! I will try to get some of that... it sounds super useful!

I've heard taking it off when applying lotion is a big thing, is that because it "clouds" up the stone a little?

Here's a stock pic of my ring holder. I just love it. So cute!

And for me lotion makes my ring feel sticky and it gets covered in smudges and it spins constantly until I wash the lotion off.

Congratulations!! I take mine off when I shower and wash the dishes so far. I've been engaged for a month now so that's only what I've done so far. In summer I'll take it off if I go swimming or to the beach. When I sleep I turn it around so the pretty is facing the inside of my hand so it's safe.

Hi! I got engaged in late January and had the same question! I asked my coworkers who were married and got advice. I wore it 24/7 the first few days and my finger would swell. I now take it off when I'm at home (and put it in the same spot/drawer! Everytime...so now it's routine) and only wear it out to work, social, etc. It works for me! And no more swelling overnight. Plus I don't wear a lot of jewelry anyway.
