Did you pick your ring or were you completely surprised?

I told my FH that I wanted a six prong, round, solitaire diamond. It needed to be white gold and I didn't want a super tall setting. His uncle is a jeweler and they worked together to find the perfect ring! I haven't had my ring for a few weeks since his Uncle is making a custom wedding band, but I'll have it back in 11 days!

We went shopping for my rings, after he proposed. I chose a custom setting he decided on the size of the center stone. He wanted me to be happy with the setting so he didn’t want any surprises. We had a quick engagement. We planned a big wedding in six months and I received my engagement ring two months before we got married. I wouldn’t change a thing.

We went ring shopping once together and then I researched and picked the stone and setting I liked based on his budget. He surprised me with a fancier, more expensive, setting than the one I picked. He also surprised me and had the stone set east west..which is my favorite. I didn't even know it was an option.

I was actually both. I was surprised because I picked out ring but didn't know it. A mutual friend at the time was also getting married so I thought she dragged me into a jewelry store to do something for herself. Long story short, I ended up getting sized and she asked me what my dream ring would be. FH ended up proposing to me later that same year and I was just baffled. He planned that whole jewelry trip so our friend could go back and report which one I would love. We did go shopping together for his band and my enhancer.

I wouldn’t say I was “surprised” by what he picked but we never went ring shopping together. He took his mom and my best friend, who literally had my dream ring plastered into her brain at this point, and they designed the ring. It’s PERFECT for me, I’m a more simplistic type of girl and I’ve always wanted a solitaire princess cut. I love it.

He picked it entirely by himself. He knew from "hints" that I loved an oval but that was really all the detail I had shared.

I was completely surprised! We talked A LOT about what I liked and he knew I had a pinterest board (😂🤦🏽‍♀️). He custom designed a ring for me and I LOVE IT!

He picked the engagement ring (and not very subtly asked about my ring preferences beforehand, lol) and surprised me. I picked out the band because I wanted a wrap and it took a few months to find the right one that complemented the engagement ring.

All he knew was that I wanted a sapphire and I liked a lot of intricate details. I'm fairly certain my best friend drove him crazy with ideas of what I like, but ultimately this is what he chose and I love it so much.

My FH proposed with his great grandmother’s ring hoping we could get it resized. Due to the age they were not comfortable with fixing it and we did not want to destroy and heirloom...in the end we picked out a ring together 💕

We went shopping casually when we would go to the mall and I told him what I liked(which was a lot LOL). And then he got a jeweler to custom make my ring with all the aspects of what I said I liked before. It’s beautiful and I love that it has his touch to it🥰

I dropped very specific hints. It also helped that my best friend knew my exact dream ring and he asked her for help.


I left all the diamond specs for him to decide on though. 😊

My fiancé picked out my ring totally on his own! We never talked about rings or sizes or shapes or anything! I didn’t even know he was looking at rings! Everything was a total surprise and I couldn’t be more pleased! He did a great job if I do say so myself 😍😍😍😍
