Did you cry when you got your dress?

Holly, on July 29, 2018 at 3:30 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 89
So I bought my dress today. Wedding is 10/23, so time is little and I know this. There were factors into a short engagement and honestly I wasnt expecting to go buy my dress at David's Bridal. Also, budget is super tight. Well I saw they are having their $99 sale and decided to go look. Of course being a curvier woman they had nothing in my size. FH and starting Keto which worries me about purchasing a dress as it is. But I need one. Anyways, the stylist brought out this one dress. It was $200. Perfect for the beach wedding. It is comfy and will look great if I lose weight. Well searching for DDs dress I saw a bride cry and realize I didnt cry. Then realized I settled. I really like my dress. It is very pretty. But it isn't The One! But with budget and everything else...I guess it is perfect. I'll post a picture below in the comments.

So did anyone cry or not cry. Did anyone just settle? Are you happy or have regrets?

Here it is. I only got the dress. Even though the sash makes the dress. I have to search for a sash somewhere.

I think your dress is beautiful. Honestly I think lots of brides really want to go all out on a dress for their day but at the same time the wedding is supposed to showcase the love you and your FH share, not how much money you have or how extravagant you can dress. I bought my dress at a non bridal store for 80 bucks. it is casual but still elegant, extremely comfortable especially since we are having an outdoor wedding. I cried when my fiance asked me to marry him, not over the dress I am going to wear for one day.

I just started searching Etsy! I want a belt. I think it helps make the dress. I will check that store out. Thank you! And I do love the lace on my dress. FH loves lace dresses and my DDs name is Lacey lol. It is only fitting that I did get a lace dress.

I love my dress. I can tell you that I smiled & I was happy..but I did NOT cry lol & I can assure you I didn’t settle. Everyone doesn’t have that reaction. Your dress is beautiful & you look happy in it!! Don’t compare your experience to someone else’s!

I cried when FH asked me and I sorta knew it was coming. He cried as well. He also asked in front of a lot of people. Did it after my DDs softball team placed 3rd in a tournament. He coaches them. So he did it during pictures. It was perfect.

And I'd I didnt buy at David's Bridal it honestly would have been a dress off Amazon. I found some cute ones on there. But I do love this one more than the Amazon ones for sure.

    This right here.

I got a little misty eyed when I rang the bell. But I think that was more anxiety because the entire store was looking at me, lol 🙈 I love my dress but my reaction wasn't anything seen on Say Yes To The Dress or anything 🤷‍♀️

Oh I'm sure I'm going to be a wet, giggly mess during our ceremony. But that's because I'm marrying my favorite person in the world, not what we're wearing ❤

I actually did cry as soon as I saw myself in the dress. The song "Sarah Smile" was actually playing in the background (my name is Sarah) It was meant to be.

You look beautiful in your dress!!!

For my experience, I sort of knew what I wanted but I remained open as sometimes I know people come out with something very different than expected. I went to a trunk show that had my designer’s dresses and IT was the one I originally wanted. I put it on and the consultant, and my mother and cousin were talking and I was sort of moving in it and checking it out, and basically like, “This is it!” They both were caught off guard and my mom originally didn’t like the shape of it (she wanted me in an A-line dress), and was like what?! I repeated what I said, and then she started to cry (I didn’t). Now, I went back for my first fitting and I absolutely LOVE my dress! I’ll be the one like Monica from friends and my husband will come home from work, like a year from now and I’ll be in it sitting on the couch lol.

You look gorgeous! I definitely did not cry, but I dod get really emotional (somewhat close to crying, I suppose) when I pictured myself walking down the aisle to FH in it! I’m usually not a happy-crier though. I asked the consultant how many people actually cry and have that “The One” moment, and she said probably not even 20%! I absolutely love my dress and have no regrets, but I didn’t cry, and I didn’t have that instinctive moment that I was putting so much pressure on myself to have! I think as soon as I realized I was overthinking that part of it, I felt confident in making a decision.
