Covid19 wedding

Is anyone else stressing about planning a wedding where we’re all concerned with social distancing and small gatherings? Like I can’t really grasp a time frame of when to have a wedding and setting up appointments while places are not even open yet. If anyone has any suggestions or tips or anything at this point, that would be helpful! I don’t know where to start! #pandemic2020bride

I feel you! I was a 4/18 bride, and we postponed literally the day before Ohio got shut down. We picked a new date of 8/1/20 with the hope this would get better over the summer months. Ohio is now starting to slowly open. Yesterday our governor announced that weddings of 300 or less can proceed, but with no congregating (so no dancing, cocktail hour, no hanging out by the bar, etc.).

I'm now a little over two months out and I'm going back and forth on what to do. My advice would be to call your venue and go over any guidelines your states puts out in regards to weddings. If there is anything that would compromise your vision, I would make a plan b (postponing to next year, eloping and having the reception on your 1 year anniversary, etc.)

I hope you're able to have your dream day!

Thank you!! We’re thinking a really small gathering for starters, like roughly 50 people. Definitely going to be outside so it’s safer for everyone. Last thing I want is my family to come out to support our union and then go home sick. Our governor here in Michigan just updated guidelines for gatherings of up to ten people is acceptable so if we keep pushing it back maybe that acceptable number will grow with time. Just found this out like 20mins ago so that helps to relieve a little stress like maybe we can still do this. Maybe I can make white face masks out of cloth and lace? Don’t really want face masks in all my wedding photos but I just have to accept that my wedding will just be different from the norm. Just ready to be married to my best friend and then like you said celebrate at a later date. Thank you for responding to my post!

    Hi Tesha,

It's a whole new world right now! You have a great attitude about it. As you mentioned, the most important thing is that you'll be married to your best friend--one way or another. I'm sure you can find some fancy masks on Etsy. Some wedding vendors are also selling masks, which is neat. Plus, this will make a great story for the future. Smiley ring
