College Couple Planning a Wedding--- Budget

Tori & Chuck Curry, on January 19, 2020 at 4:09 PM Posted in Planning 0 4

Hey all!

Im currently 19 years old and my FH is 21. We will be getting married in August of 2021. We got engaged May 2019. High School Sweethearts now together for 6 years. Im looking for some tutoring for wedding budget haha.

For some reason it cost a fortune to get married in a Barn in Illinois/Wisconsin so that is taking up most of our budget. Right now our favorite pick is $8,500!! Just for the barn venue and nothing else (but it really does have everything we love, which sucks). The caterer we are most likely going with is sitting at a calculated budget of $3755 for 100 people. Thats already $12,255. Id like to keep our budget at $25,000 but that just seems impossible. How many of you ladies had a $25k Budget and what did it look like? Where is room to spare? We are buying linens and plasticware off of cheaper websites as its so much more to buy with our caterer. Anywhere else we can spare?

Helpp hahaSmiley smile)

See about prices for photography at local schools (colleges) to see about a good price. DIY things, like your bouquet (mine will real but I'm doing bridesmaids from the dollar tree), we are doing DIY chocolate covered pretzels as favors, even center pieces. Utilize pinterest too for ideas.

Our original budget was 10k, we quickly realized that was impossible.
We are at a firm 15k for everything. Including honeymoon.
We are older, paying for everything ourselves. My fiancee, would faint, if I even suggested 25k! Whew!
I'm sorry, I don't have alot of advice to giveSmiley sadOur venue is an old horse farm.We got the venue with catering for around 5k. There is just no way we could have paid 8,500.
Our guest list is at 60 max, so that helps .I agree, going the route of doing it yourself on somethings may help you save.
We got a great deal on our photographer, she wanted to build her wedding portfolio, and we got a great package, including our engagement photos.Good luck! Where there is a will, there is a way! You can do it!

We got married in a barn, it was $11,000 just for the venue fee. Barns are very, very popular venues. I think you could do 25k if you serve something like BBQ (for around $10 per person), and only did beer & wine. Then didn't do things like transportation, videography, engagement photos, favors, welcome parties, etc.
