It depends on the type of chair, but I have seen chairs with just bows and no covers.

Yea, I agree that it will depend on the type of chair.

Personally, for me, I don't like the way chair covers look. However at the same time, if the chairs themselves are hideous and a weird color or cheap looking, I would want to cover them up.

I think it depends what kind of chairs are at the venue. If the chair is pretty enough (google 'chiavari chairs') then it could just be left alone or prettied up with a bow. Most venues use those ugly banquet chairs that pretty much need something to cover their hideous-ness. I just found a blog post someone wrote about chair covers: http://genevieveswedding.blogspot.com/2010/02/chair-covers-and-ceiling-draping.html

From a photographer's point of view, either Chiavari or chair covers! Smiley smile

    Hope that helps!

I agree with Nancy, it does depend on the chair. I saw something like this in a magazine once, and I love the idea, but you need to have a certain chair for it to work.

This is the hall and the chairs uncovered at another wedding... they are in good shape but they are jus plain old banquet chairs.

I also think it depends on the kind of chair. If the chairs are Chiavari, I would not do a thing to them. I think their beauty shines all by themselves.

However, if they are ugly chairs, then they need to be covered, but if they have to be covered, I would go with a chair sash as well.

My daughter's venue provides the chair covers, but does not provide the sashes. However, she plans on purchasing them and reselling on the various wedding sites(weddingbee or project wedding). Chair sashes usually sell pretty quickle. You can buy them at www.linentablecloth.com Her covers with sashes will look like the picture below. I wish I could talk her into the Chiavari, but her FH is pro chair covers with sashes.

If your budget can handle it, here are some ideas that are different, but pricey.

Personally, I hate chair covers, so I vote no to having them. :-)

What prices have you received so far? I found a company that would rent chair covers for $2.00 each if you are getting more than 100.

Our venue chairs are ugly and have very large arms. There are no chair covers that will fit over them. So, we are trying to hide the ugly by using large fabric to cover the backs and tying it in a bow. The seats, no one will see once everyone is seated.

I think the hall looks fine with the chairs in your picture. I think the bow alone would be fine. I think covers can provide a nice look but they are expensive and people end up tripping on then anyway. I'm going with no covers personally.

I really don't like the covers either. Unless the chairs are hideous, I'd go without.

I personally hate chair covers that is why FH and I decided to go with the chivari chairs...We actually got a really good deal for the chair rental with the venue. He normally charges 9.00 a chair but I told the mgr at the venue that I found a place that will deliver chivari chairs to the venue for 4.00 a chair so he dropped his price to 4.00 a chair...I lucked up big time

Only if the chairs are horrible IMO. Spend that money and put it towards your honeymoon....that's what the guest would want you to do. (at least I would)

I really don't like the look of chair covers. I think it will depend on the chairs though, whether the bow will go on it's own or not.
