I got engaged back in August and my fiancé and I aren't getting married until may 2018. My best friend is getting married this September and I originally asked her to be my bridesmaid.. being that she will be married by the time my wedding hits how do I go about "upgrading" her to be a matron of honor?

And to add onto this question because so many people left rude unnecessary comments and mocked me is im asking because a lot of people have told me the proper thing to do would make her a matron of honor being that she will be married at the time. So I figured hey why not and ask? Instead of thinking this was a positive helpful forum there are people here that have to insult and be negative

Well Kim. That means you have to stick around, and yes. It's recommended to wait on asking, relationships do change. My FH best friend, who was supposed to be BM, had a falling out and they no longer speak and it has been 4 months. It's a good thing he didn't ask early.

Also... bashing would be calling you a ugly in your dress... that's bashing..

@Kim: Sooooo...if those women had told you they all jumped off a bridge and were fine, would you do it too?

JFC, a little logic here. You know what? I was friends with a woman for over 26 years. From kindergarten on! One day she up and basically decided she was done with me, and never spoke to me again, because I wouldn't stop taking care of my CHILD for her.

Friendships can change in an instant, and you are begging for trouble asking them prematurely.

The Magic of the Internet is that whether you ask for an opinion or not, you're going to get it. Here, it just so happens that it's against the rules to tell people how to post.

Again, suck it up, buttercup, and grow a thicker skin. If a bunch of strangers tell you something is a bad idea, and only you believe it's a good idea, chances are high it's a bad idea.

Its not just about relationships changing, but life happens. People get pregnant, people move, people have changes in their financial situation. All these things may impact one's ability to be in you BP. But if someone has already committed to being a BM, it can be difficult for them to say they need to step down if something comes up that makes it hard to attend your wedding. Although those things can happen anytime, waiting until 8 months before decreases the chances of that being an issue.

I flagged OP so many times I think it's a personal record.

Anyone want to remind our new little friend here about the user whose bridesmaid, whom she's known for 20plus years, just stole her credit card and tried to buy a bunch of shit?? Things change. People change. You're delusional if you think things will always be the same.

Ahhh LD, a more careful scrolling proved yes you did bring it up, my bad! But it's a shitty enough situation to bring it up multiple times imo!

I know MNA and I weren't the only ones flagging all the vios, why the hell are they still up?

Well I was always told that your made of honor or mattress of honors should always be your best friend or your closest sister because they would be the one who know everything about you

    Even your secret.

I mean..I love my mattress at all..but I think it would be a little difficult to bring it down the aisle and have it stand there by me. Hahaha

Lorvana do you have a secret to share? Your post sounds quite ominous.

So, how is OP going to prove us wrong after her wedding if she vowed to WWLaura that she won't be returning?

There are few things I love more than my bed, so I think I'm going to have a mattress of honor! It's the only thing that has never left me through all these years. Love the idea!!!

Married friends can still be bridesmaids. No need to upgrade someone just because they are married.
