I got engaged back in August and my fiancé and I aren't getting married until may 2018. My best friend is getting married this September and I originally asked her to be my bridesmaid.. being that she will be married by the time my wedding hits how do I go about "upgrading" her to be a matron of honor?

And to add onto this question because so many people left rude unnecessary comments and mocked me is im asking because a lot of people have told me the proper thing to do would make her a matron of honor being that she will be married at the time. So I figured hey why not and ask? Instead of thinking this was a positive helpful forum there are people here that have to insult and be negative

It's 3:45AM and I'm lurking right now... and maybe I'm a bit delusional but I just wanted to say I've been laughing at mattress of honor for the past five minutes.

Just read all of the comments and I'm a bit confused. Why were people saying, "you should still wait until you are at least 8 months out" and "you're way too early to ask your wedding party." when she already stated that she has asked them? Regardless of whether or not she should have, she already did so I don't know why people felt the need to comment on something that can't be fixed. Just seems negative and unnecessary to me. She was simply asking about a bridesmaid, not whether or not she should have waited to ask her BP.

Hey Kim, no one anticipates having a major falling out with one of their friends...My best friend of almost 10 years was my MOH, and she dropped out of my wedding a month before (looong story). And I did ask her about 9 months out, so that wasn't even really the issue in this case. But, as someone already said, waiting to ask really decreases the likelihood of problems.

My sister in law is going to be a bridesmaid. She's obviously married to my brother. You are able to have a married bridesmaid. I think "upgrading" here would be weird.
