I got engaged back in August and my fiancé and I aren't getting married until may 2018. My best friend is getting married this September and I originally asked her to be my bridesmaid.. being that she will be married by the time my wedding hits how do I go about "upgrading" her to be a matron of honor?

And to add onto this question because so many people left rude unnecessary comments and mocked me is im asking because a lot of people have told me the proper thing to do would make her a matron of honor being that she will be married at the time. So I figured hey why not and ask? Instead of thinking this was a positive helpful forum there are people here that have to insult and be negative

You said that you thought you would come on here looking for advice "but nope" were your words. All they were saying was that it isn't how it works because it's not. There were no insults. I suggest you lurk around the forums a little to understand how the people in the community work a little better.

And using the word upgrade was my wrong. It was a question on how I would go about making a bridesmaid a matron of honor.. but I guess I don't. Sorry for asking a wedding question in a wedding forum. My bad.

She's still a bridesmaid if you make her matron you're actually making her maid of honor

It's alright girl I had the same experience when I first came on here but then I realized you are asking for people's opinions so it might not always be positive, just take the good and leave the bad.

It's ok to leave her as a bridesmaid. It would've been one thing to have her be maid then move her to matron, but not bridesmaid to matron

I really feel bad for some of you. There were insults and mocking. And people wonder why there's so much hate in this world. Can't even go on a forum to ask a question without feeling ashamed for doing so

Good lord, no one was being rude or negative. They were just telling you that she's not going to be offended that you didn't make her Matron of Honor just because she got married and it's unnecessary. They were trying to help you Kim.

Calling me a troll? And mocking / making fun of my accidental grammar mistake? And usage of wording. Pretty negative to me.

But thank you to those who actually did help me and answer nicely, need more of you in this world.

No Kim, there were no insults only people trying to help you and answer the question that YOU asked. There's no reason to be ashamed for asking this question. They were saving you from making unnecessary bridal party changes and trying to help you understand the difference. (Which you clearly didn't get)

Where are there insults? No one called you any names or said anything about you other than "hey, this isn't a thing".

One person made a joke about a grammar mistake, and it wasn't anything serious at all. It's like you're looking for a reason to be offended.

Also, someone called troll because several people have come on the forums lately simply to try to piss people off and acting offended to start fights so because of the way you reacted they thought you were doing the same.

You're funny Lindsey. You know what I say to myself when I wanna be negative towards someone? "You never know what that person is going through, or went through in their past.. so just leave it alone if it's not positive, you can do more damage then you think"

And yes there was name calling.

Well you all thought wrong. Just wanted to ask a simple friendly question. I now know not to ask on here again

I feel the same way about this instead of politely sharing the difference between maid of honor/matron of honor and bridesmaids they all just insult people... it is your wedding and you could ask your bridal party when ever you want you decide it's your wedding. This is suppose to be where we all share and give opinions, but others think about being perfect and insulting instead of commenting politely.

There are other ways to instead of mocking and making fun of people. Stop being rude and help out.

And your "simple friendly question" was asked OP. You just didn't like the way that it was stated. People gave you the honest truth, and some people made a joke but nothing was serious or rude.
