Reality check- a $40 isnt' going to happen. A strapless bra for a 40DD is a huge order! I'm only a 36DD, and I won't wear strapless- my girls need help.

You need a longline bra that you can try on. I understand you don't want to spend more than $40, but you're going to have to unless you want to be pulling and tugging on it all night. I'd go to higher end lingerie store and have them fit you for one. Bridal salons will carry them as well. But realistically, you need to be looking to spend more around $80-100 for quality.

I wear a 36DD and I have a nude one i got from target. I LOVE it. Its the kind that comes with removable straps. Ive never been able to wear strapless before and now i can lol. It was under $20.

I will add that I paid the hefty price for one of those fancy 7 way ones at victorias secret (when it was on sale) and I still like the target one better

    heres the one i got

I will also add that I paid $80 for the one that went under my wedding dress and I should have just worn my target one because it hold up much better lol

Mrs. Clark- I bought that exact same bra on and it didn't fit me at all. It didn't hold up to washing, and kept slipping down. I could have gone a size smaller around, but then it would have made bumps.

Good Luck Bear- I'd strongly recommend a long line bra. That also cuts down on having to buy spanx. It will smooth you out, while providing much better support for the twins.

As a lingerie designer who makes plus size bras for a living, I can tell you it is going to be tricky to find a GOOD strapless bra in a large size like 40DD for under $40. Meghan is correct, you need a long line bra or bustier in order to hold the girls up without straps. If you go with a strapless bra make sure it has boning on the sides. For your size though I would recommend a halter strap, if the dress style permits. Check out www.herroom.com - it's one of the best bra sites, esp for plus size bras. Try brands like Wacoal, Goddess, Vanity Fair, Natori. Good luck, PM me if you need any other lingerie help.

I'm a 38E, when I went to Alfred Angelo to try on bras the sales girl was really helpful and said that since the girls are so big it would benefit me to go to Nordstroms and get fitted. I did and I'm super happy about it. The bra I purchased stays up and holds me up. I had a great consultant that kept running around trying to find me the right fit. It cost me about $80 with tax, but to me it was totally worth it.

Torrid is having a lingerie sale. I don't know if you can find a strapless bra that would work with a backless dress though.....the back straps would still show. Can you tie the dress so that it does have a little more back coverage? Cuz otherwise all the backless options I can think of that would also be strapless might not give enough support for the girls.

Actually, I found a 40DD bra at walmart for $15 Smiley smile.

I had a hard time finding a bra for my dress, it had to be strapless but every bra I tried on in my size (40DD) wasn't big enough in the cup. It felt like the girls were going to fall out any second. I didn't want to worry about that for my wedding day. VS suggested I head to Lane Bryant and wouldn't you know it? I found one Smiley smile. A 40DDD (cause my DD cup was too small) strapless cost me $45 (with tax).

    So try there Smiley smile

I'm a 36DD and I've yet to find a strapless bra that will do what it's supposed to while not creating back fat rolls. So if that is a concern could you possibly wear the dress like the 1st or 2nd example?

I'm a 38 DDD and Lane Bryant bra's are the best in my opinion. Haven't tried their strapless ones before, but their regular bras are amazing!

@ Christina P Target online for 34.99! Thankyou sooo much ladies for the advice! I found a converter for $8 that converts any bra into a low line bra that goes around you waist. Fashion Forms Low Back Straps is what its called. However I still may need to just do looks on this dress like Marie S. suggested if it doesnt do what it says it does on the site. I got it from Lady Grace online.
