Bare Minerals

Mrs. Kommeren, on April 22, 2012 at 8:24 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 21

I recently spotted a blog on makeup, and someone mentioned Bare minerals. I have never purchased, but is curious to see if that makeup will be good for my weddin since I have oily skin and tend to shine. I use a variety of makeup, everything from Covergirl-queen collection to MAC and sometimes very cheap knock-offs products. What is the take on Bare minerals, and do they have a shade that will fit me?

Bare Minerals will probably not work well for wedding photos. It's a great every day wear. But it's going to look ashy in pictures. The product contains too many reflective particles that will flash back on camera.

I use it and honestly it has the best coverage for me and my zits/redspots. They have all shades, I bought the starter kit and a primer that you put on your face first. I went to my mall and they have ladies in the bare essential store that will teach you how to apply it. I have tried all sorts of liquid make up and powders and they all feel heavy and sometimes sticky. I would recommend bare minerals and its not that expensive compared to other stuff out there. Here's a link to the starter pack I had mentioned. Hope this helps.

I have Bare Minerals and I love it! I hardly ever wear makeup and I like how light it feels on my skin and I look natural, but it even everything out and hides the imperfections. I'm wearing it at my wedding.

I couldn't live without it! And the best part is that you can customize the shade with other colors. I have oily skin and I just make sure I use a primer before and dab my skin with oil absorbing sheets every few hours. If you want to try a sample, there are great samples available on Ebay of specific shades. Sometimes it takes a bit of practice to make it perfect, but I have had strangers at work tell me I have a beautiful complexion....and I don't lol. I tell them its Bare Minerals.

BM minerals is hands down the best makeup Ive ever used... and Ive used a LOT od diff brands!

I'm wearing for my wedding. Id just be sure to use the primer properly & also get some of that bridal spray makeup sealer stuff and use a bunch of that. Ill find the brand I once used and post it. Its a life saver. I have super oily skinbut w enough of the spray.... your makeup will stay flawless all day!

Also I plan on goingto the BM store and telling them that I'm doing my own wedding makeup and having them do my makeup in the store to test colored and shades out.

I love it! I wear it everyday. I used to use MAC for years but Bare Minerals is better for your skin and I am very acne prone. It covers well, is natural, and stays on all day. I say try it!

I wear bare minerals in my every day wear and it's fabulous BUT - I do not recommend wearing it for your wedding if you plan on having a professional photographer. Any type of mineral make-up will make you face 'white' in professional photographs. You can have a gorgeous, natural look using professional products like MAC, Bobby Brown or NARS that will look a heck of a lot better in pro pix. The trick is how to apply it correctly.

I too love Bare Minerals and wear it every day, but it does have mica in it which is a shiny mineral that reflects light - so I won't be using it for the wedding. I am going with airbrush instead which I understand is fine for people with dry or oily skin.

"Mica is a sheer, translucent and skin-hugging mineral. Reflects light from the face,"

I only use bare minerals as well, LOVE it! Im up in the air about what to use for my wedding day since I want to photograph well but I am so comfortable in my bare minerals!

( I trust my hair dresser (also a mua) without hesitation and she says she'll be doing my makeup with "other stuff",so I guess I'll be beautified by "other stuff" on my wedding day)

Back to Bare Minerals, buy it and try it, I feel very confident you'll be hooked!

Thanks ladies, will start makeup trials soon so I know which one I want tp use. Cannot wait to see the results...But then I have to think I am a big cry baby, so I need something that is going to last or just hire a make-up artist to retouch me up between the ceremony and reception.

I love it for every day make-up, I don't know if it would be enough for wedding day make-up though.

Don't know what I would do without my bare minerals! Ever since I switched over to their complete line (facewash and all) my acne/blemishes have almost disappeared! I love the complexion that it gives you. I wore bare minerals for my e-pics (had a lady at the counter put it one and I loved it, however I did hire a makeup artist for the day and she uses something else (I think Revlon...). Good luck with your decision!!

I wore a different brand mineral foundation for our e-pics. Certain ingredients and brands will make you look ghostly. So mineral makeup could work, but I'd research to make sure it'll work for photos. Bare minerals is nice for every day wear.

I love Bare Minerals! I recently just bought the foundation starter kit and a couple of eye colors and blushes and i have to say for everyday wear it is amazing, it makes my skin look flawless and the eye shadows are fantastic they are so bright and stay in place but they are easily to blend and layer. They eyeliners are great! I just can't say enough about this stuff, as far as for photos through it probably isn't the best for your wedding look because the photographers flash can cause you to look washed out. It's fantastic stuff though!

Its great for everday wear, but it reflects back too much in photos. Actually, I remember reading somewhere that any makeup with SPF in it reflects back alot in photos, but i'm not a makeup artist so don't hold me to that lol
