Are you guys inviting any of your teachers?

teexoxo, on May 8, 2010 at 12:23 PM Posted in Planning 0 12

I thought about sending an invite to my 2 favorite teachers from school that I was really close with, even though I know they won't come. FH doesn't think I should. Anyone else inviting teachers/mentors?

I'm inviting a couple of my high school teachers and my undergrad senior thesis advisor to the reception in Missouri in the fall, but I think there is a chance that all or some of them will attend. FH and I both invited our advisors to the engagement party/pre-wedding reception/co-ed shower, and they did come.

I guess I do feel like you shouldn't send them invites if you really believe there is NO WAY they would come (and I did drop a couple of profs from undergrad from the reception list for that reason). But if you were really close with them, there might be a chance that they would want to come. The only thing to keep in mind is that if they're married, the invitation should go to them and their spouses.

I'm inviting my undergrad thesis adviser and his wife. I would have liked to invite some of my high school teachers but couldn't because we wanted to keep the guest list smaller. I think that if you are close with them and think that they would come, you should invite them, because they have been an important part of your life.

I really want to invite them in the off chance that they might come. I know one will for sure but not sure about the other. I just wanted to send them an invite to let them know where I'm at and that I wanted them to be part of my day even if they can't make it that I wanted them there. Y'know what I mean? The reason I'm not positive they'll come is just because we moved away and it's quite a drive to where our wedding is.

In that case, I would definitely invite them. Just make sure you find out about spouses so that you can address the invites to both members of the couple by name!

I am inviting two of my GRADE school teachers - they really turned me around, and even though I don't talk to them all that frequently, I still hope they will come. As for high school or college, not so much... I just wasn't that close to them... but y

My undergrad thesis advisor actually does weddings, although he's not our officiant. He's a religious studies professor; he got a Universal Life Church ordination and now specializes in what he calls the "Five Minute Wedding--married in five minutes or your money back." :p

I'm inviting my middle school music teacher and he promised to be there. He was one of the driving forces in my life and we hang out every now and again.
