Anyone else skipping the wedding band?

OregonEmily, on February 28, 2014 at 5:39 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 47

I am pretty sure I just want to wear one ring. It seems like most women rock both an engagement ring and wedding band.

What's your take on it?

I want to have the option to wear them together or separate. Once we are married I don't think I will wear my engagement ring to work (I work in some crazy areas at times).

My wedding band will be the ring I wear all the time whereas my e-ring I only wear when we are going out or on days I don't work.

I honestly don't know how I feel about it. To me, it just looks so complete with the double-ring. A good friend of mine is getting married in June and opting no band (She has a gorgeous $8k diamond solitaire). To each her own, but I just feel like it will make me feel "truly married" with it. Is that weird? LOL.

@mizangi. I get what you're saying about the "truly married" with a band. It's tradition. But I think I'm going to break that tradition. I will be using my e-ring in the ceremony, so maybe that will give the ring even more meaning.

I don't like the idea of not wearing my engagement ring daily. It's too damn expensive to let it sit in a box!

You'll get used to the feeling of both, unless you're interested in swinging and playing the field, I'd suggest wearing a wedding band

Mine is a matching set. The band doesn't work without the e-ring and I just love the way they look together so I'll wear them both. I'm probably going to get them soldered because I get annoyed with just my e-ring spinning... I don't think I could handle two spinners!

I thought you meant music when I first opened this thread. We're actually deciding right now on whether or not to save money by not doing a live band. As for the ring though, mine is understated enough that I'm going to keep wearing it as a wedding band too. No need for two separate rings.

Definitely both. i will probably wear only the wedding band for things like the beach where fh gets paranoid the diamond will fall off and be forever lost. also, when im doing lab work, i'll probably just wear the wedding band so the gloves fit better. other than that, i'll wear both!

@Anisea. I have no interest in being with men other than my FH. I don't think men see an engagement ring on someone's finger and think, "I better bone her before she gets married!" But instead they most likely recognize that you've made a huge commitment to someone you love and are off limits.

We're going to be getting matching bands that have our names carved into them, so I'm quite happy to have both rings. Smiley smile

If a guy takes the e-ring as a challenge, he would have no respect for a wedding band either. just saying.

I didn't want a wedding band. A few days before the wedding my mom started freaking out about it, so I went and bought one just to appease her. It was like $150 - cheapest, smallest white gold band I could find with such short notice. Ironically, I wear it all the time. I don't think it's necessary at all.

I was going to just have the Ering only, but I decided to have a band made because its hard for me to wear my ring at work, so I don't (taking on and off gloves, and constant hand washing I remove my ring). I might just wear the bands to work, but everywhere else the Ering and bands.

Yay for post skipping. Anyway, what Shannon said. And besides, there are plenty of married swingers who wear their rings!

I wanted a small wedding ring to wear all the time. I love my e-ring but it gets in the way at work and I don't wear it most of the time.

I'm not wearing a band - most are to simple for my taste and those that aren't will clash with my e-ring. Like you, mine was also VERY expensive and the band on my e-ring is wider than most and covered in diamonds so in a sense it feels like a band with a solitaire.

I don't think you're any less married if you where just your e-ring. Its just a tradition to get you to buy more jewelry, haha.
