Anyone else skipping the wedding band?

I am pretty sure I just want to wear one ring. It seems like most women rock both an engagement ring and wedding band. What's your take on it?

I'm only going to have the ring I got when we got engaged. We never planned on getting a wedding band. I'll just take it off before the wedding and he'll put it back on when we exchange rings.

I am going to be wearing both the band and my ering. We actually went and picked our wedding bands out earlier and picked an enhancement ring for my solitaire. So I will not be able to wear it alone and we are going to have them soldered.

I am going to wear both, and then add a 2nd band after 5 years (yes, he knows already what my 5 year gift will be), then up sizing the big rock after 10. I will, however remove the e-ring for motorcycle rides. My bands are channel diamonds, so I will always bling!

No wedding band for me. We did change my e-ring band to something thicker with diamonds on the sides.

Good to know I can still swing. Woo.

We went the opposite way. We wanted only one ring each. But to our mind, the marriage was more important than the engagement. So we got wedding bands, but not engagement rings.

I didn't want one either. About a month after the wedding I decided to order a $6 stainless steel band so that I could wear that on the honeymoon and leave my diamond at home so I don't have to worry about losing it.

I am also from Portland and will not have a wedding band. I guess we're just looser out here :-). I feel my ring is pretty enough on it's own and doesn't need any enhancement from a wedding band. Plus, it seems lopsided to have a band on one side of my ring and not the other.

Mine was a set. I'm pretty sure that i'll wear them both for the first month or so but then will only put on my engagement ring when going out.

@OregonEmily - i just read all the threads and stopped at the boning topic... here's a funny story from last weekend. My FH and I went to a local club with some friends. We were dancing when some guy grabbed my hand looked at my ring and then pushed it away. My friends heard him say i'm married and his friends responded with "who cares" - so this guy (who is probably 15 years older than I am comes up to me and offers me himself haha and whispers into my ears "can you keep a secret - we can have a lot of fun" i was like WTF and pointed to my FH who was standing right in front of us. The guy looked at my FH and whispered back to me "like i said, can you keep a secret?" I walked away in disbelief that this just happened...

Some guys have no morals. Not only did this guy not care that i was "married" but he didn't even care that my FH was standing 2 ft away watching him talk to me. AHHH!

I don't know about you guys, but I'm really excited to wear my band and e ring together! Obviously strangers don't need to know your marital status, but I'd think you were just engaged if you didn't wear a band.

I'll wear both. My ering is very simple and lovely, and most likely my wedding band will be a yellow gold ring with no or very few stones (depends what I find for $200!).

I'm only wearing my ering and glad to see others doing the same so I don't feel crazy. I have a couple reasons for making the decision. First, I picked the ering out of the case because I love it but it was not meant to be an ering so I'd have to buy an expensive completely custom made band and it's just a waste of money in my mind. I also have tiny hands and 2 rings tend to look absolutely ridiculous. Finally, no offense to anyone at all but I just don't think bands are pretty. I think my 2nd grader size hands play into this a lot. I only ever found one very thin setting with diamonds lining it that I liked and it would be $2k to get it to work for me. I just can't justify it when I know in my mind that money could be used for our future instead of a piece of jewelry. I feel like when we use the ring in the ceremony it will become my wedding band and that's okay by me! My wedding is not about jewelry and if I don't act like I'm single people aren't going to suddenly treat me like I'm single just because I'm only wearing one ring.

If you like tradition and two rings that's great and usually looks gorgeous but you can't down us people who feel 'my fiance only has one ring, why do I need 2?' :-D

My FH got the wedding band with my e-ring. It is kind of like an enhancer. I love it, but I can't wear the set at work (I would damage it in a second), so we also got a plain white gold band for me to wear at work (and leave the nice set at home for weekends/going out) so I can stop wearing my ring on a necklace all day. So, I guess I technically get two wedding bands! Smiley smile

I have been asking this same question. I love the simplicity and daintiness of my engagement ring's band so much, that any additional wedding band makes it look too large and overstated for my taste. I've considered a simple wedding band, no wedding band, or buying something else I like and wearing it as a wedding band on my right finger.

For me, each ring has a separate meaning so I like to wear both. It is all up to you and how you interpret the meaning of each and what it means to you. There is no right answer Smiley smile.

I love the look of my ring exactly as is and don't plan on getting a band. The only appeal I see to a band would be having a less expensive ring I could wear camping/ swimming, etc without worry. Otherwise I just plan to use my engagement ring for the ceremony. Maybe it's an Oregon thing- I'm in Eugene. Smiley smile

Personally, I wanted to skip the engagement ring, but FH was definitely against that (he's very traditional) FH wants me to wear both, so to keep the peace, I will.

Mine is actually a set where the band connects with the actual ring so I've never actually worn it seperatly, it would feel so weird wearing it without the band BUT thats only because I've gotten used to it. I can understand wearing it later on but not right off the bat.
