I am (a very young!) 71 years old. My husband and I have been married nearly 38 years and we have one wonderful son and 2 beautiful grandchildren - a boy age 11 and a girl age 8. My hubby and I had a lovely small wedding in a nearby church, as I had been previously married. I wore an ivory wedding gown, a hat with a veil, and he wore a "morning coat" outfit (our ceremony was at 11AM). Afterwards in the church hall, we had a champagne and hors d'oeuvres reception with wedding cake and coffee. In the evening, our immediate family had dinner at a nearby elegant restaurant which was in a historic old Dutch farmhouse. Because I am Roman Catholic, and divorced, I was not able to get married in the Catholic Church. I have since petitioned to have the first marriage annulled by the Church and a decision is imminent. In anticipation of the annulment, and at the urging of my best friend who is also our church's music director (and who has, along with our pastor, helped, supported and encourage me in the annulment process, I have made some preliminary plans for a "convalidation" ceremony in my church - a Catholic marriage ceremony for couples who were previously married outside the Church. My husband and I never had the chance to have a honeymoon - we moved into our house right away and a year after our wedding, our son was born. So now we are planning the ceremony and honeymoon we never got to have.

For anyone who does not remember: my husband of 38 years and I had the Catholic church wedding we didn't get to have in June of 1985. We had a small sweet church wedding but as I am Roman Catholic...
We had our (Catholic convalidation after 38 years of marriage) wedding ceremony on June 4, 2023. On December 4, we celebrated a 6 month anniversary. Because of our heavy appearance schedule as Santa...
Our special day went perfectly! Perfect weather - 65-70 degrees and mostly sunny! Everything went off on time. The Mass, ceremony, music and flowers were just beautiful! This was a Catholic...
Next month, hubby and I will attend the wedding of his boss' son. We are on very good terms with the boss, let's call him "Vinny", and his wife and though we don't see them much socially we are all...
Now that my own wedding is delightfully come and gone, I'd like your opinions. You would think I wouldn't need it, being 71 and a "fashionista" - very fastidious about how I look and dress, with a...
I just let my bouquet, and hubby's boutonniere dry out. The bouquet was so lovely, I couldn't part with it. The roses were off white and look better than the photo. I also dried my granddaughter's...
Does anyone have a favorite brand of waterproof mascara? I do have some I use but quite honestly, I will probably cry my eyes out at some point during the day (not before or during the ceremony, I do...
Are they in on every stage of planning or just when asked their opinions? Are they enthusiastic participants or they like, "where do I pick up the tux and what time should I be at the church?" I am...
I'm interested in how you all are feeling, how your plans are coming along, how your bridegrooms and family feel, etc. As I've previously posted: my husband of 38 years and I will be celebrating our...
My wedding ceremony is 11 days away. It's actually a Catholic "convalidation" ceremony for hubby and me, married 38 years and couldn't have a Catholic wedding back then. It's a short, simple ceremony...
Now that my Wedding To Do list only has a few things left, I am getting excited! I'm not having a wedding of the scale most of you brides are planning: we have been married 38 years but in 30 days, we...
I have until early May to decide on flowers, but I am trying to choose flowers and colors for my bouquet, which will be small. My dress is knee length ivory/butter cream lace. The wedding is in early...
In June 2023, just after our 38th wedding anniversary, my husband and I will have the Catholic wedding ceremony we couldn't have back then (we did have a small wedding in a non-Catholic church)...
First, I should mention that we are (very young!) "sixty-somethings", married 38 years, who are planning a "convalidation" ceremony. This is a Catholic marriage service for couples who were married...
Thanks to all who expressed an opinion about a gift for my BFF/Matron of Honor. I bought her a beautiful white cultured pearl and sterling silver Rosary (we became friends at our RC church - I'm in...
