Question for Brides Who Are Wearing Ivory Dresses

MrsC, on February 17, 2023 at 5:25 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 22

I have until early May to decide on flowers, but I am trying to choose flowers and colors for my bouquet, which will be small. My dress is knee length ivory/butter cream lace. The wedding is in early June and I would like to carry roses, and I was thinking of adding another color. Pink won't go well with the dress but peach might. And maybe some greenery. Note: the wedding is a small ceremony of "convalidation" at our Catholic church because when we were married 38 years ago, we couldn't have a Catholic ceremony, so it will not be elaborate. What colors will be in your bouquet if your gown is ivory?

My dress was ivory, and my bouquet was mostly white roses! I don't have any non-professional photos of the dress and bouquet together, but here is what the bouquet looked like:

Thanks!! ♥ 💐 I didn't really know what I wanted for flowers, and this was what my florist recommended for me. I loved how it turned out!

You're very welcome. I was kinda in the same boat. Wanted something different so I had my bouquet made in Kazakhstan by an artisan whi makes clay flowers. Needed a pop of color so had it tweaked a bit. I still don't have them, but she sent a pic. I can't say I'm totally happy but for the money spent, I think I'm just gonna go with them. Had the clover added to honor my fiance's Irish heritage.

That's a beautiful bouquet - very bridal!! And when I was married originally, I wore ivory and carried a bouquet of all ivory roses. I thought I'd add some color, but now that I see this, maybe I'll stay with something like this. My outfit is very "bridal" looking and I'm wearing a small bow headpiece with a little "birdcage" veil. Thanks! Congratulations and good luck to you newlyweds!

A truly lovely bouquet!! I like the touches of blue (I thought of adding that color too), and the Irish clover!! I think I might do what Lisa mentioned: give the florist and idea and let him run with it. He's a friend from church and everything we've ever gotten from him, for us (including the gorgeous Valentine's Day bouquet hubby brought me!) or for anyone else has been beautiful.

I have an ivory dress and never even thought about colors clashing, now I have a new worry 😅 but this is what I plan on. A nice fallish wedding color

Hi in mine im choosing to go with a more modern bouquet including orchids and white flowers but also a dusty rose flower to make it a little timeless and classic.

I'm not having a big wedding, just a small "convalidation" ceremony at our Catholic church at our 38th wedding anniversary because we couldn't have a Catholic wedding back then. Then there's a wedding dinner at a nearby elegant restaurant with 8 guests: our hosts are my MOH/Best Friend, her husband who's also the photographer; our son and 2 grandchildren, the priest and hubby and me. So no "colors", although the MOH and my granddaughter are both wearing blue. I thought I'd carry ivory roses with a touch of peach and/or blue. My favorite color is pink but my dress is butter cream/ivory and peach would look better.

My dress was ivory and nude/almost blush and I had white florals with lots of greenery! Still worked great.

What a wonderful picture. With the green behind the flowers though, there is not a contrast directly with your gown. I think still the white is fine with ivory. There are always various shades of white

Ivory is much like white or black.. It goes with everything! If you want pink, have pink in your bouquet. Or go with ivory flowers, greenery and have pink be an accent color with ribbons. Perhaps find flowers that are ivory with a hint of color in the petals? I'm attaching what I put together for my mom and future mother in law as an example. I got the roses from Hobby Lobby.. Dollar tree also has some decent greenery available this time of year as well..

Oh, pretty!! Now that rose would go with my dress, which is really more a cream color than ivory. I want to carry real flowers this time (at our original wedding, I carried a bouquet of ivory silk roses, which I still have, along with hubby's ivory rose boutonniere. Also, I toyed with the idea of carrying a flower-covered prayer book instead of a bouquet. I'd have the book covered with material in the same color as the dress and the florist could attach what would essentially be a large wrist corsage to it. It could then become the centerpiece for the table at dinner, along with the nuptial candles (unity candles if you will, but we don't use them at the church, they're lit at the beginning of the reception). My wonderful MOH gave me a set of candles and candle holder for a shower gift.
