Your wedding florist will make your wedding day even more beautiful by providing gorgeous floral arrangements. What services does a wedding florist provide?

A wedding florist provides a variety of services, some of which might not be obvious at first.

Consultation: Your wedding florist will meet with you to discuss your vision for your wedding—your venue, your wedding style, your desired color palette, and the types of flowers you like and dislike. Your florist will then create a proposal which will describe the arrangements he or she will create as well as the prices.
Samples: After you’ve signed a contract and shortly before your wedding, your florist may also provide sample arrangements to ensure that you’re on the same page about how your wedding-day flowers will look.
Flowers: A big part of your wedding flower budget will go to the actual purchasing of the flowers. It actually takes several hours for a florist to put a flower order together—and the flowers your florist will receive from his or her wholesaler or grower are far better quality than the ones you can buy at your local grocery store. They’re grown especially to be featured at events and are hand-selected for their quality.
Flower processing and storage: Once your flowers arrive to your florist, he or she will take several hours (often a whole day!) to process your flowers (taking thorns off of roses, counting the flowers, etc.) and storing them in a refrigerated space to ensure they look amazing on your wedding day.
Labor and production: Now, it’s time for your florist to create those beautiful arrangements! Each arrangement takes time to design (probably more than you would think!), so it’s quite a long process.
Delivery and set up: Your florist and his/her team will then bring your arrangements to your venue. A good amount of work needs to be done on premises to make sure that your ceremony and reception looks picture-perfect, from the altar to the reception table arrangements.
Cleanup: After your wedding, your florist and his/her team will go to your venue to remove all of the arrangements and vessels, and assist with cleanup.

Susan of Boathouse Blooms is absolutely amazing. I’d recommend Susan one thousand times over. Susan brought my wedding dream to life. I didn’t want the tables adorned with traditional centerpieces (which I considered any sort of flowers in a single central vase, high or low). I described to Susan how I wanted to incorporate taper candles and greenery on the table. After brainstorming in her home studio, we came up with the perfect plan for my vision: three burgundy candles in hurricanes, with three bud vases with single stem flowers, surrounded by greenery with flowers weaved in, and tea light candles in amber votives. We received so many compliments about our tables capes! The sweetheart table was SO elegant!! Even my husband, who is not one to notice flowers, could not stop commenting. We had overflowing flowers toward the front adorned by white taper candles on our burgundy tablecloths. We got married at a beautiful church and I did not want to bog it down with flowers. Instead, we just used a greenery on the railings outside the church to adorn the entrance. Susan, in her brilliance, suggested she bring it to the venue after the ceremony to place in front of the band’s stage. It was a perfect touch!! Susan also added flowers to the our wedding cake - it was outstanding!! I cannot get over how gorgeous everything was! My bouquet was perfect, with matching smaller versions for the bridal party. The boutineres were so perfectly elegant. I must emphasize how wonderful it was to work with Susan throughout this process. She has such a calming presence. When we met, she immediately allowed me to be comfortable to share my ideas. Throughout the process, Susan was communicative and flexible! She is so trustworthy and it is immediately apparent. And on our wedding day, Susan came in just as things started getting hectic (with florist and photographers and videographer all arriving at once). Yet, Susan maintained an incredibly calm yet joyous demeanor. I immensely admire Susan and will absolutely be reaching out for any future events.

I can’t even put into words how breathtaking our flowers were. From the bouquets to the reception centerpieces to the arbor for our ceremony, every single detail was beyond what I imagined. They were clear communicators from the start and the team did a amazing job making everything look perfect the day of, including staying after the ceremony to re-purpose my bridesmaid bouquets and arbor throughout the reception area - they even used excess flowers to extend the arbor and create an extra floor arrangement that looked perfect with our wedding sign. Truly goes to show how they go above and beyond! Guests are still raving about the arrangements, and I’ll cherish my bouquet forever, thanks to a family friend who is preserving it for me. They are an absolute dream to work with!!!
