I am Wendy Mitchell and I have been open as Wendy Mitchell Photography since January 2005. I am a wedding and engagement photographer in the Buffalo NY area. Each year I shoot weddings across WNY, Rochester, the Finger Lakes and the Southern Tier and occasionally travel to other areas of upstate NY (Syracuse, Alexandria Bay, Capital Region) as well as northwestern PA (Erie, Bradford).

I graduated from RIT (Rochester Institute of Technology) in 2004 with a B.F.A. in Professional Photographic Illustration but commercial advertising photography has never really interested me - I love the personal feeling of working with brides & grooms to photograph beautiful, meaningful weddings!

Photographing couples is what I love to do most - weddings, engagements, vow renewals... I take a mainly documentary style approach, staying out of the way and taking pictures of everything as it happens. I love getting a wonderful mix of details, candid moments, beautiful posed photos of you with your families and your wedding party. I love photographing the flowers, the programs, the food, and the decorations in addition to making sure I get lots of pictures of everyone smiling & having a great time (and sometimes crying during the vows or the parent dances!).

Having been in business for well over 10 years (and over 400 weddings!), I still understand the importance of treating every wedding as its own special day. While I do have the experience to be able to expect and prepare for normal wedding day situations, I make sure to approach every day as its own event without a formulaic or list-based agenda for what I'm going to photograph. Sure, I'll take pictures of you both with your parents & grandparents, the cake, the flowers, all of the details, but I don't work in a way that I'm just checking off a to-do list. Every wedding is as organic and free-flowing as possible!
