Nestled on 11 acres near the ocean in Wells, Maine, Village by the Sea is a charming wedding venue offering a perfect setting for your special day. We are located 80 miles from Boston and 30 miles from Portland making us a central location to the beaches of Southern Maine.

The Perfect Place for Your Wedding

Village by the Sea is the perfect place for a wedding. Jill, Charlene, and Jayme made the experience one that we will never forget. They demonstrated their professionalism, efficiency, and experience every step of the way. Because of this, the stress that typically accompanies these events was nowhere to be found, and everything went smoothly. Our guests raved about the staff, the food, and the venue. Several of our guests had food allergies, and these ladies immediately took care of the situation, which allowed those guests to relax. Whenever we contacted them, they responded quickly, which calmed our nerves. Village by the Sea and its staff went above and beyond our expectations to make our experience one that we will never forget. Thank you, Jill, Charlene, and Jayme for a very special day.

Beautiful!!!

Village By The Sea was the perfect choice for our wedding reception! Everything from coordination to communication was seamless. The entire wedding weekend went smoothly and they went above and beyond to make sure we had everything just as we wanted it. Magda, Jayme, and Charlene were so incredibly helpful the whole time.

Our friends and family can’t stop talking about how perfect it was, and Village By The Sea had a huge part in making this weekend so amazing for us. Thank you guys for the best time!!!

A nautical reception

Working with the village was an easy choice! From the first time that my husband and I saw the ballroom, we knew that we wanted to have our reception there! Working with Charlene was a delight, as she was quick to respond, and was always willing to search for the answer if she didn’t have it herself! She gave us wonderful recommendations and pointers throughout the process. Towards the end, we ended up making some last minute changes which they were gladly willing to help us change. The day of the wedding they executed our reception with grace and style, and all of our guests raved about the wonderful service from the bar and the food! We are so happy that we decided to use village by the sea, as they made the process so simple and beautiful!

I Cannot Say "Thank You" Enough

Jayme and the entire VBTS team did a phenomenal job!! I cannot say "thank you" enough for all they did. Choosing them was the easiest decision we made in the wedding planning process! Our wedding had a number of last minute hiccups due to outside situations and Jayme was amazing to work with. She handled everything flawlessly and with ease. We cannot thank them enough for all they did. It was a fantastic day and I couldn't have imagined it going any better!!!

Wedding Perfection

Village by the Sea was the perfect location for our summer 2019 wedding! The wedding team was very helpful and made our vision for the perfect wedding a reality. We had an outdoor ceremony and cocktail hour, then went inside for dinner and dancing. The package deal included delicious cake from Let Them Eat Cake and spectacular meals. They were very accommodating for the multiple types of allergies. We also enjoyed our rehearsal dinner at VBTS. Guests were able to stay right at Village by the Sea, which was a huge plus.

We could not have been more pleased with this venue for our daughter's wedding. The entire staff worked tirelessly to ensure that the day went perfectly. Gail was with us from the moment we arrived for the rehearsal on Friday evening until late Saturday night when the last guests had departed. It was obvious that Village by the Sea is experienced with weddings. They anticipated our every need. The whole evening went like clock work . Most importantly, we ALL had a great time. The pergola is enchanting for exchanging vows; the gardens and lawn were stunning and well groomed for the event. The bridal suite was large and we had the use of a few rooms in which to spread out while hair and make up was completed. Having accommodations on site was a plus. The guests really enjoyed the large suites, complete with full size kitchens, and stunning views off their balconies. It was nice to know that the guests only had to walk a few steps to get "home" after the party was over. The location in Wells Maine is perfect. We had only a short ride to the ocean for a magnificent backdrop for photos of the bridal party. Many guests enjoyed the nearby nature parks, golf courses, and eateries nearby. All -in -all we highly recommend this venue for any couple looking for a warm friendly staff, an experienced wedding planner and a perfect coastal wedding.

Gail and the team at VBTS did an AMAZING job with our wedding last weekend. I am still in awe of how she kept her cool despite many stressful factors, including crazy weather and a couple who were insistent about an outdoor ceremony, a ridiculously large wedding party to wrangle and keep in order, missing flowers, a car alarm that would NOT stop going off, and various other things to keep us on our toes. We also wanted a very allergy/vegetarian-friendly menu and the chef was so accommodating to us. I was worried our guests would be grumpy about our menu choices, but they seemed to really enjoy the food!! We cannot speak highly enough of our experience with this venue. We had a beautiful weekend with family and friends, and it was truly incredible. I am so thankful to this lovely staff who are all just such wonderful (and significantly more organized than me) people. Village by the Sea has such a special place in our hearts now! Thank you for all your hard work in making such a memorable and special weekend for us! If you are looking for a terrific venue with a great staff, look no further! We had a wonderful team help us plan our wedding. The Venue beautiful warm and comfortable. We had the best time! All of our guest said it was the best entertaining wedding they ever attended! The Brides were a riot and of course waited 20 years to get married! Thank you for being so welcoming professional and kind. Love the staff!

My husband and I were married on June 24th, 2017 at the Village by the Sea, and could not have been more impressed with how everything went. April and Jamie were amazing coordinators to work with. They were on top of everything, right down to the smallest details, and were so responsive to any questions or requests we had throughout the process. The caterer and cake vendor they had us go through were topnotch, and the all of guests raved about their lodging accommodations. We could not have asked for a more perfect wedding day and are excited to visit the Village by the Sea during future trips and anniversaries.

Perhaps the best decision we made during the wedding planning process was choosing Village by the Sea as our venue. I still remember getting in the car after our first visit, looking over at my fiancee and seeing the same excitement shining in his eyes that I felt in my heart - this was it! Jayme was an incredible asset to our planning process. She was the first to meet with us, show us the space and answer millions of question (that was just the first day). Over the next year she was a wonderfully confident and reliable friend, by our side the whole time - responding to emails/calls in a timely manner and always available to meet with us.

The Wedding Showcase hosted by VbtS at the beginning of the year was monumentally helpful. We were able to meet preferred vendors which greatly assisted us in decision making. We sampled the food offered by Blue Elephant, the caterer exclusive to VbtS weddings, selected our mode of transportation to get us to the beach and back for photographs (Molly Trolley was amazing!), saw suites available to us for the wedding and of course sneak in more questions with Jayme and the rest of the wedding planning staff.

Our big day was perfect, all thanks to Village by the Sea. The accommodations were affordable so we were able to have many guests spend the night after the wedding in comfortable, spacious suites. My bridesmaids and I spent the day getting ready in a cozy bridal suite - VbtS even accommodated our request for a television/DVD player so we could watch wedding movies while getting ready! :) Jayme and staff were incredible in coordinating arrival of vendors, delivery of cake and flowers, putting final touches on decorations and making sure the day's events went perfectly - they did!

We were so pleased with our entire experience at Village by the Sea. The ballroom was incredible, the ceremony site beautiful and the staff was wonderful. We greatly look forward to celebrating many anniversaries at VbtS.
