The Two-Mile House was built in the 1820s by James Given in the Federal Style. It served as a tavern from 1826 to 1857, hosting many a weary traveler. After its life as a tavern, the property became a private residence. The last owners Joseph and Mary King bequeathed the house to the Cumberland County Historical Society, who today administer the property. The King’s loved to entertain and in their memory the property is available to rent for parties, business meetings, weddings, and receptions.
The Two-Mile House rests on a five-acre property in Carlisle, PA. The House has nine rooms available during the rental and an outside patio that is tent covered from spring to fall.
Included in the rental are four 48-inch tables, four 33-inch pub tables, 65 chairs, six card tables, six 6-foot rectangle tables, three easels, dishes, glasses, flatware, two ovens, a dishwasher, microwave, and refrigerator. The Two-Mile House, along with the full kitchen, has two dining rooms, two parlors, a terrace room, two powders rooms, and two dressing rooms.
This property is available from 8 am to 10 pm.

I could not recommend the Two Mile House enough! We had our wedding and reception on the property. Having all of the outdoor space and the house amenities, how could you need anymore?
Not to mention, the possibilities to customize anything and everything there, to make your special day EXACTLY what you would want! If you like the rustic/historical setting, this is the place for you!
Sharon, with the historical society is the BEST to work with and she will go above and beyond to help you. Love, love, love everything about this house and property. I am SO happy that we had our wedding here!

After finding Two Mile House online, my fiancé and I decided to check it out as a potential wedding venue because the pictures looked nice and the prices are very reasonable. When we got to the venue, we were amazed at just how spacious and lovely the outdoor property is- the pictures do not do this place justice! The grounds are well-maintained, with plenty of outdoor options for the ceremony and reception; including an arbor, a barn, and a small tented area. There is plenty of open space as well, which we utilized to put an additional tent in case of rain (rented from a nearby company familiar with the venue). Inside, there are two rooms upstairs which we used as a bridal suite, and plenty of rooms downstairs with lovely antique furniture. Our wedding was on a hot August day so the indoor space was great for guests to get out of the heat and chat with one another. Since Two Mile House isn’t a traditional wedding venue, we had to do a lot of things ourselves, like decorating and cleaning up. This worked out fine because we planned for this ahead of time, and it also meant we were able to have more freedom in planning the day. Overall, we are very happy with our decision to have our wedding here!
