From the moment we toured The Refinery, we knew it was the perfect place for our wedding. The venue is stunning, but what truly sets it apart is the team — Joy and Julie are absolute pros. They’re calm, organized, and genuinely care about making everything perfect.

I trusted them completely, but I let wedding blogs convince me to hire a dedicated coordinator “just in case.” When that coordinator didn’t show up to our final walkthrough, I was so anxious that things might fall apart. Joy and Julie could tell I was worried and immediately reassured me they wouldn’t let anything slip — and they kept that promise. On the wedding day, they stepped in seamlessly wherever needed and made sure every detail was flawless.

We hosted our rehearsal dinner at Seven and our 130-person reception at The Refinery, and both were executed beautifully. They even brought our unique decorating ideas to life exactly as we imagined. We also added the on-site townhouses, The Quarry and The Mine, as “hospitality suites” for our guests — stocked with snacks and drinks, they became the perfect hangout space all weekend.

I cannot say enough to explain my appreciation for The Refinery. From early planning to the hectic wedding day where I looked like a deer in headlights the entire time, they kept me on track and focused from start to finish. The venue is beyond stunning and i did minimal additional decorations. All my guests were obsessed with the venue as well. I am so thankful that I chose this location. Price was super reasonable. I recall the location was a very tough choice, but I made the right one for sure. If the Refinery is on your list, book it and you will be so glad you did !!

My wedding was perfect and I owe it all to The Refinery and the wonderful staff there. I knew immediately after doing a virtual tour via FaceTime with Julie that this was the place I had to get married. They offer so much to make your wedding go smoothly and beautifully, I can’t imagine how I could have made it without their guidance. Joy never seemed bothered when I would email her several times with new questions that would pop into my head randomly, she was always happy to help. Julie ran my rehearsal, rehearsal dinner setup, and wedding day like a ROCKSTAR. She was so patient with me when I changed some things at the last second, and when I had doubts about decisions I was making (like taking more photos indoors because it was freezing outside, or ending a little early because I have narcolepsy and was getting very low on energy) she kept reminding me that this was our day and we could do whatever we wanted. I am so so thankful for all of the hard work these ladies put into making my wedding everything I could have hoped for!

When you book at The Refinery, it is truly an all-inclusive package. I HIGHLY recommend booking the package with Bride and Joy. The venue already has so much in terms of décor and ambiance, and Bride and Joy is the icing on the cake with amazing ideas and rentals to really bring out the couples’ personality. The package also includes your day-of coordination team, which I can honestly say, is worth its weight in gold. The team is just incredible. Joy came with the bridal party for the “First look,” and gave recommendations of the best places to take photos, and held up my dress while we were walking around. During the planning stages, we had so many challenges with COVID. We planned our whole wedding from abroad, and Joy was so responsive, accommodating and flexible. She has everything down to a science; she asks all the right questions, offers solutions, and puts all of the right planning in motion to ensure your wedding day runs smoothly. She was even able to open up the new dancefloor in the venue right before our big day! Because of the COVID situation, many of guests were not able to attend. Joy offered to record the ceremony and upload it for our loved ones to watch. Our family and friends appreciated being part of our day even though they were not able to attend in person. The venue is also just stunning. The upstairs is fantastic with absolutely gorgeous bride and groom suites. It was amazing to get ready in such a lovely space. The downstairs area, arbors, greenery, reception tables, bar and beautifully decorated bathrooms are all perfect. There is even an outdoor area where you can order drinks from the bar through a window. The venue is so stylish and chic!

Zero-stress Wedding Day
I can honestly say that we were able to 1000% just enjoy our wedding day. I walked in the door on the day of the wedding, and Bride and Joy had set up all of the beautiful decorations. We had last minute décor additions, and Julie helped put together everything. She was absolutely incredible. There was so much going on behind the scenes, and I was oblivious to it all because The Refinery took care of EVERYTHING. At the end of the wedding, the team had all of our belonging and personal items packed and ready to load into cars. Our wedding party was so thankful that all of this was done, so they were able to enjoy the entire wedding. There are so many examples like this, and this service really is what makes a wedding day memorable.

Location
Hosting your wedding in downtown Culpeper is THE best. There are amazing hotels within walking distance of The Refinery that our guests loved (Suites at 249, Culpeper Center Suites, and airbnb’s with Let’s Go and Stay) and our groom’s party stayed at West Park Gardens. You have everything right downtown that you need for a wedding week: Skin Touch + Therapy Spa; Lotus Nail Spa; and Miss Minerva’s for a bridal luncheon. I was able to buy last-minute gifts and items for guest welcome bags all downtown. It is also a perfect back-drop for photos. We had a number of out-of-town guests, and it is so easy for guests to travel to Culpeper with easy access to Dulles airport and the Amtrak right downtown. Our guests loved downtown Culpeper with its breweries and restaurants.

Choosing The Refinery was the best decision. It was truly an amazing experience for us and our guests. We can’t thank Joy and her team enough!

There are not enough stars available to express how happy I was with my experience having my wedding at the Refinery. It is beautiful, so thoughtfully laid out and Joy and her staff create the most seamless day. As a coordinator myself, I was blown away at how well this venue is run. I have never worked a wedding at a venue that was so well run. Like a well oiled machine, my family, friends or I literally did not have to worry about a single aspect of my day and Joy made sure the planning up until my special day was smooth and detailed. I would recommend this venue to anyone and everyone! Best venue ever!

The Refinery is an absolutely beautiful space that just keeps growing. We were always excited to see what treat Joy had added since our last visit. That being said, Joy herself is reason enough to use The Refinery for your wedding/event/celebration. She takes the time to get to know you, know what you want out of your day and will do everything she can to make that happen. Our wedding ran like clockwork and we can thank Joy and her amazing staff for that. Our entire night was enjoyable and we were able to focus on enjoying each other and celebrating with our friends and family.

Joy was absolutely incredible. The venue was beautiful and so perfect for our wedding. Joy was so easy to communicate with. She made our wedding day flow so smoothly and made sure everything was being taken care of. I cannot imagine how our wedding day would have gone without her.
