I recently got married at The Water's Edge Country Club in Penhook, VA. From the moment that I stepped foot onto the golf course and saw the beautiful restored chapel, I knew that this is where I wanted to get married. My husband and I had always talked about a Fall wedding, and loved the concept of having the wedding outdoors. With a mid-October wedding, there were definitely the "what-ifs" for weather, foliage, etc. The team at The Water's Edge Country Club worked diligently to make sure that no matter if it rained or shined, I would have the most beautiful wedding day imaginable; which I did. Robert Lambert, the General Manager, and Jodi, the Assistant Manager, worked incredibly hard to make sure that all of the requests of not only myself, the bride, but my mother, my now mother-in-law, and my wedding planner were heard and fulfilled. The head chef, John Hanek, created the most delicious Surf-and-Turf plate for my guests that everyone STILL compliments as the best food they have ever had at a wedding, two months later. The staff that they provided to man the open bars in the reception hall were very personable and friendly. The reception hall was elegantly draped with gorgeous lights already, which made our decorating that much easier. The club provided the linens, plates, silverware, etc. to adorn all 15 of our tables, including our Head Table which seated 14. The stage was the perfect place for our DJ to set up his equipment, and the bars fit perfectly on both sides of the stage. Getting ready at the Water's Edge was not typical for most weddings, but Robert Lambert and Ron Willard were very accommodating in giving myself and my bridesmaids our own private area at 9am to dress and get ready for a 4pm wedding. They also let the groom and his groomsmen use the Men's Lounge, which they all thoroughly enjoyed. Overall, my experience at The Water's Edge was great, and I have nothing but the utmost gratitude for the staff.
