Working with Sidney was one of the best decisions we made when planning our wedding.

Before we met her we were already inspired by her work— natural yet cinematic with an artist’s attention to composition. When we met her for coffee, we fell in love with her sweet personality and obvious experience with wedding photography.

We had her do engagement photos for us a few weeks before the wedding, and it helped us get really comfortable in front of her lens. She’s confident but totally inobtrusive, and made being photographed feel like the most natural thing in the world. (And I am self-conscious around cameras.)

On the big day, Sidney arrived early and scoped out locations. I was stressed—it was raining, we were running behind schedule—but Sidney brought a very calm, peaceful vibe to the crazy hours before the ceremony.

It was absolutely pouring rain, but she was unfazed and found a long dock on a lake for our first look photos. (We grew up in the area and never would have thought of this spot—she really has an eye!) We were obviously hoping for a sunny wedding day, but Sidney's rainy photos are so beautiful and romantic that it didn’t even matter in the end.

She encouraged us to get out of our comfort zone and into the elements and the resulting images are so, so striking. I really don’t think another photographer would have been able to get the same results. She literally makes magic.

At the ceremony and reception, Sidney captured the little and big moments that made our day so special to us. She also had a hand in making moments happen that we may not have had without her — she had my husband carry me onto the green during a break in the rain, and coordinated our sparkler grand exit.

It’s hard to explain, but working with Sidney did not feel like “hiring a vendor.” She was truly a friend to us before and after our wedding day, and her photos are treasures that we will love for the rest of our lives.
