Always a job well done. My hair and make up were fabulous for my big day! The airbrushed makeup was flawless and hair was done exactly how I asked. I love Milk + Honey!

I had the great privilege to have my wedding day hair and make up done by the professionals at Milk + Honey salon here in Austin, Texas. My bridesmaids, mother and I were all styled there and we left the salon feeling sexy, confident and happy. The best part about Milk & Honey is hands down the staff. Each employee truly is passionate about what they do and they always aim to make each patron feel special. So I absolutely encourage anyone in and around Austin to stop by the Salon or either of their spa locations for great personal service.

I went to Clarissa for make up and hair - she was awesome and came in early to ensure I would arrive at my ceremony on time.

I'm really torn on what to say about milk + honey. Overall I was extremely pleased and one of the reasons I was slightly disappointed was partially (emphasis on partially) my fault since I didn't do as much research as I should have. First, I'll start off with the good because there's a lot of it. All of our services were done at the Hill Country Galleria location in Lakeway. For the morning of my wedding, myself and three members of my bridal party all had the hour long lux massages, which were. to. die. for. I honestly wished I could have stayed all day. Afterwards we all had a break for lunch then had our hair done. Debbie did my bridal hair, which turned out perfectly. She's hilarious and so easy to work with. I actually completely changed my mind on my hair between my trial (which was great) and my actual day-of style, but she gladly accommodated the new plans and my hair was flawless. She was even able to adjust my flower crown which had ended up being a little large. The other three girls looked great as well. In addition, I also had my eyebrows and my nails done and it was all extremely relaxing and they turned out perfectly. My ONLY complaint was the makeup...I was not a fan. I had a trial makeup session the day of my bridals and I was so disappointed I would have cried if I were a crier. Their selection of makeup is disappointing (I should have known this, but here's where the failed research comes in) and the makeup artist was just...blah. She's was sweet, but not at all helpful when I asked for suggestions or her opinions, like a professional should have been; I felt like she had no idea what she was doing and she poked me in the eyes so many times with the mascara wand that I finally just told her to stop and did it myself. The makeup was a complete waste of time and money, in my opinion, but every other service I had was great!

I had my entire bridal party and my own wedding day hair and make up done here, plus hair for some of the mothers & stepmothers. I chose the salon partly because it was just around the corner from the 4 Seasons where I had my bridal brunch. The salon is very open and light, has a really "urban cool" feel which is nice.

Chad did my make-up, and he did a FABULOUS job. He's very meticulous and takes his time to get everything just perfect. He even came in on his day off to do my make-up for my bridal portrait! Consulo did my hair for bridal trial, portraits and then finally wedding day. Every time I ended up doing something different until we got it just right for wedding day, and she was really open to adjusting until it was exactly what I wanted. All my girls were very happy with their hair and make-up. The great thing was that they got it all done (8 appointments, some for both hair and make-up) in 3 hours, everyone got done and left the salon on time. I think cost wise they are pretty average with other higher end salons I looked at, and all their prices are listed online on their website.

At the end of the day, I would definitely recommend this salon. It's a great location and easy to arrange your bridal party appointments in time.The salon has an organized bridal party department that arranges stylists for anyone who gets their hair and makeup done on the wedding day and offers bridal hair trials. I almost wonder if I had avoided that process how it would have gone. My mom made appointments for herself and my mother in law and the process was much smoother. I worked with a woman named Jess who gave me anxiety every time I sent her an email because she was extremely slow to respond and I didn't feel like I got a clear explanation of much without asking. All my fears and frustrations evaporated after my hair and makeup trial. Jenna did my hair perfectly and exactly like the picture I showed her. She also did it really fast and I was so confident leaving the salon that day. I was really nervous about makeup because I don't wear much and wanted to look like myself. Tania did such an awesome job. She listened to what I wanted and talked me through the whole process. She really seemed to care about giving me what I wanted and making me look good. The day of the wedding, Jenna did a completely different hairstyle and I had to ask her to redo it, which is not my personality. It wasn't the same as the trial because it has been teased so much already. I was going for a natural look, but it was pretty good. Makeup was just as good as the trial. On the hair, I think I could have spoken up more so I'll take part of the blame. I just was over-confident after the awesome trial.

By the end, I really liked the work Salon by Milk + Honey did for my hair and face, but it was a bit of a challenge getting there. When I first booked my pretty expensive trial appointment, I was half way through it when the stylist realized that she was unavailable on my wedding day. The receptionist had forgotten to ask when assigning her to me. So, a week before my wedding I went in to get ANOTHER trial done by someone who was actually available. Luckily, Monica was amazing with my hair and we came up with a fantastic plan. I had also booked my make-up to be done and no one brought up the fact that I would need to meet up with that stylist. I had to bring it up myself several times before an appointment was booked. When I finally met up with the stylist, she had not been briefed at all on what she was doing for me and when. I guess what really bothered me is that this place is pretty upscale and fancy, but their service was completely out of whack. The stylists do good work but there is little organization. I am hoping that this was just a spot of bad luck and not typical of the Milk + Honey Salon. I am an easy-going person, but this was a really important part of my wedding and I wish they had treated it as such. Big bonus of this place, you can get an amazing massage and your nails done at the spa before you get your hair and make-up done on your wedding day. That alone is why I do not regret my decision to go with the salon.

DO NOT let ALI touch your hair...NEVER! If you're booked with her I strongly suggest you ask for someone else... consider yourself warned!!

Today was the most HORRIFIC experience I have ever had. EVER!! This picture is exactly what I looked like getting in the car after my appt.

After showing up late to our appt she asked me how I would like my haircut, so I tell her I barely want a trim. Just cleaned it up a little bit. Keep it exactly how it is. She repeated it back to me saying she was going to take less than a trim off the bottom of my hair.

Next thing I know she has clippers out, shaving the underneath of my hair on one side. I asked her what she was doing, and she gets frazzled like she did not understand what I asked for --then just passes me off a different stylist at that moment.

So this new "master" stylist attempts to fix my hair. She didn't know or even notice that the right side of my hair had not been cut at all-- I kept saying my hair was crooked, but she just looked at me like I didn't know what I was talking about. Finally, she realized that I only got half of my hair chopped off. At this point I'm crying. She makes a few cuts and tells me that she has to go because her new client had arrived.

No one bothered to wash my hair, actually cut it to be even or have shape or at least style it before telling me I have to go. She just said to let it grow out and come back in six weeks. I mentioned they have a huge family vacation next weekend. Nobody cared.

So here I am sitting in my car in tears because now I have a pixi Karen haircut after trying to grow my hair out for a 1 1/2 yrs!! There is NO hair on the back of my head. I was back to day one..

This was the most devastating experience I've ever had getting a hair cut. Every time I look in the mirror I start crying.... FIND A NEW SALON.!!!!
