About

Surrounded by the emerald embrace of the jungle and caressed by warm Carribbean breezes, is a resort of rare luxury and indulgence. Rosewood Mayakoba is imbued with the unique spirit of Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula. A journey to this serene world, immersed in the dense green perfume of the jungle, captivates the soul with unimaginable tropical beauty, and pure, simple refinement. The ecological enclave of Mayakobá is a new, enlightened model of true luxury hospitality that celebrates the land without compromising it. Mayakoba embraces the government restrictions on development and mangrove preservation which has always been a top priority for the developers and designers. The Madrid-based construction company OHL, with 25 years of experience in Mexico, owned the land for many years before choosing how to build upon it.

There are no words to describe how perfectly executed our wedding was at Rosewood Mayakoba. Everyone tries to prepare you before your wedding that some things will not go perfectly but not to worry about it. However, everything went perfectly with ours thanks to the team at Rosewood Mayakoba. It felt as though the entire resort was there working on our wedding. They made us feel special and our guests were over the moon. We didn't hire a wedding coordinator as we trusted the team at Rosewood and they wowed us at every turn.

The Rosewood was my reception location and many of our guest including our selves stayed here. This location is ideal for beach wedding. Their staff was amazing. The beach here is beautiful and the actual reception area The Palapa is covered so if it rains (which in playa del carmen you never know) you are covered. My wedding coordinator was Annahi Leyva and let me just say there are no words to describe how good she was. She handled it all so that i could actually enjoy my wedding and that is just what i did

Attended wedding weekend at Rosewood as a guest

First night, it rained right as the rehearsal dinner was supposed to start by the Casa Del Lago pool. Rosewood Mayakoba was not prepared. Guests stood awkwardly by an alcove near the lobby drinking and eating appetizers. An hour later, we were able to eat *inside* the restaurant but the table were all spread out awkwardly. The food was cold and dessert (donut holes filled with Nutella) was served at the same time as the salads and main dishes were put out at the buffet. The dessert was supposed to be warm with melted Nutella chocolate but ended up room temperature. Overall C-minus. The bus the next day to go snorkeling was almost an hour late. Rosewood was supposed to prepare a nice breakfast for everyone before the bus picked us up, but all the food tasted like it was from Costco (nothing tasted fresh). Bizarrely, they didn’t even provide us a fresh fruit salad. Instead, there was an apple or plum to choose from (but nothing to cut them with) and day old pastries plus a rubbery pizza with beans. The food at the hotel is “okay” and super overpriced. Ceviche was good. Fish tacos were bad. Food at the wedding was “okay.” The hotel had a “day of the dead” party the next night, which was cool, and the hot chocolate and food they gave out was good, but the party itself was very cheesy. It was geared towards little kids with face paint etc. The wedding was completely disorganized. After the ceremony, the wedding planner insisted everyone stay in the grassy area where the bride and groom had just gotten married because they weren’t done setting up the wedding reception at Aqui Me Quedo. It was very hot and everyone’s high heels kept sinking in the grass. No one wanted to wait on the lagoon law . Felt very restricted and like they were not prepared. We went to the “after party” and everyone was excited for the taco trunk but none of the tacos had been made. They said we had to wait an hour and only had one guy making tacos. No guacamole had been prepared. The brides first dress, which was insanely expensive, was kept in the public bathroom along with her purse. The wedding planner didn’t even think to take the dress to the bridal suite and just left it hanging in the dirty bathroom!
