About

As the only true jazz and blues band on Wedding Wire, Peter & the Master Keys plays top-shelf classic jazz with the kind of swing and sophistication that can only be found in the best musicians of New York City. AND… when the time is right, they can pivot and really throw down for a rockin’ dance party fueled by timeless hits from the '50s and '60s with a few contemporary songs to boot. Very few bands can give you great danceable renditions of Sinatra classics and blues and rock n’ roll of Ray Charles, Chuck Berry, Elvis, and the Beatles in the same night!

Their fun and classic vibe is at once throwback and timely and has brought them to a range of venues from the chic downtown jazz cellar, The Django, and edgy Sleep No More, to Sotheby's and Yale Club in the Upper East Side. With bandleader Peter on lead vocals, an optional female vocalist, three horns (trumpet, tenor sax, baritone sax), and a robust rhythm section (keys, guitar, upright bass, drums), you get a big, exuberant sound. You might even call them a “little” big band!

There are different package options ranging from a trio or quartet for cocktail hour only to the ceremony, cocktail, and reception package. First dance request, MC duties, and one-on-one coordination with the bandleader himself are always included.

Whether you need music for a mellow cocktail hour or a high-energy dance party—or maybe even both, Peter & the Master Keys loves to play timeless music that can reach all generations. That’s why we like to say that we play “dance party music for old souls and the young at heart!”

Reviews of Peter and the Master Keys

simply great

Peter and his band were all excellent musicians who delivered a top-notch performance. All our guests had great things to say and everyone had a great time. Peter delivered everything we spoke about before the event - snazzy cocktail hour with a 4 piece group, then dinner and dancing with a 7 piece group on the stage. It was simply great. My husband and I highly recommend Peter and the Master Keys.

Couldn't recommend more highly!

Peter and the Master Keys were a truly essential part of our wedding, and a big part of what made the whole day so magical. Peter worked with us for months leading up to the wedding to tailor their setlist to include our favorites and generally capture the overall mood that we wanted for our upstate celebration in the mountains. Guests couldn't stop talking about the band during AND after the wedding, and the ambience that it added to the whole event was unmatched. We are so grateful for the thought and care that Peter and his crew put into our event. They even learned a new song outside of their usual repertoire for our first dance.

All of our family and friends were raving about how much they loved the music, and it will definitely be one of the most memorable parts of the day for us as we look back in the years to come.

If you are a bride / groom on the fence about having a band for your wedding vs. a DJ, this is your sign that you should have a band!

Fall Wedding

Peter and his team of incredible musicians set the tone/foundation for our evening. In addition to being an accomplished musician and crooner, Peter is also a pleasure to work with – he was always timely and responsive to us and worked with us on what we should play for our ceremony, cocktail hour and reception. He is open to suggestions – his team played a rocking Hora to incorporate my Jewish heritage and was enthusiastic in speaking with my fiancé about songs he really wanted to hear on our special day. When Peter and team were playing their final set, they brought the house down - the saxophonist, even slid across the floor to play in front of my husband!
We're all about trust. Our community relies on honest reviews to help you make those big decisions with ease.
