I could not say better things about my experience with Oaks Manor. Tamara took over a couple weeks before my wedding and we could not have been happier. Here professionalism, help with last minute vendors and any day of things we needed she was always there. Oaks Manor is truly a beautiful place that you cannot find another, I recommend it for any event or wedding!

Perfect Setting: Wedding Venue with a next door mansion for your favorite guests!!

We celebrated our daughter's wedding there this past Thanksgiving weekend and we could not have been happier with our choice! The reception venue is beautiful and modern, and the best part is the huge Mansion next door that accomodated the wedding party and inmediate family for the entire weekend. We had the rehearsal dinner at the Mansion and it had all we needed for the elegant occasion. The game room on the third floor was a big hit, specially for the groomsmen. The bride's suite was comfortable, very pretty and great for pictures the morning of the wedding, actually the entire house and surroundings were great for pictures!!
They were very flexible and Heather was great to work with. Highly recommend this venue!!

We got married at Oaks Manor Events on July 21st, 2024. It took a little bit of time to break this down but we hope this will allow anyone who is planning on getting married here to make the best decision possible for them.

Pros:

Aesthetics: We originally toured in the winter and had to use our imagination/online photos to picture what the big tree would look like with all its leaves, but we can confirm it was a beautiful background for the ceremony, and you could not see the RV park next door in the background at all. Additionally, the gazebo in the back and the front of the mansion made for great first look photos.
The Ability to DIY: Oaks Manor does not have their own catering service. As a result, you can bring in whomever you’d like to supply your food. Additionally, you have the option to hire bartenders and bring in your own alcohol. For those who would like to plan a wedding on a budget, this could be a great avenue to do so.
The Mansion: Along with the reception hall, you have the ability to rent out the adjacent 11 bedroom for the weekend without breaking the bank too much ($4500 for the mansion and $4500 for the reception hall as of this writing) Our entire wedding party of 18+ people was able to stay comfortably and we all split the bill for the mansion. The bridal suite was very spacious for getting ready and was able to fit myself (bride), my 9 bridesmaids, and our two mothers comfortably with enough seating for everyone. It was also nice to have totally separate getting ready spaces on different floors so it was easy to not bump into each other prior to the first look.
When you rent out the property, you get it for the whole weekend. We were able to get access to both properties as soon as the Friday morning before, and were given as much time as we needed to pack up and leave on the Monday after (we had a Sunday wedding).

Cons:

General Upkeep of the Property: When we arrived at the venue, we, as well as our caterers, noticed a bunch of basic issues regarding the cleanliness of both spaces. The caterers had to sweep the floor when they went to set up the reception area, the kitchen was dirty, there were a ton of smudges on the windows, and someone found a mouse in the first floor kitchen. Not ideal. Additionally, the AC in both spaces and the refrigeration in the reception hall were not working properly, and were not fixed until shortly before the ceremony. Even during our first look, we saw maintenance on the roof doing extensive repairs. We’re grateful that they got it fixed before the ceremony and reception, but as a result, it was very hot getting ready in the bridal suite because the AC hadn’t been fixed yet. Lastly, because the refrigeration wasn’t working in time, we had to send our wedding party out to buy coolers and ice in order to make sure our drinks would be cold. When we requested reimbursement for the added expense, we were told that we could’ve just served the drinks over ice (that could’ve worked for soda, but not for alcohol).
Maintenance Support: When we went to talk with the caterers as they were setting up the Friday before the wedding, they showed us two plastic rectangular tables in the middle instead of the round tables that we were promised. When we probed Heather (the event coordinator for the venue) about the tables (more on her shortly), she let us know the day before the wedding that they were broken and that the maintenance team wasn’t responding. Turns out, they were just missing a few screws, so we ended up sending Heather to get the screws and ended up putting the two tables back together ourselves.
Heather (event coordinator): It speaks volumes that the feedback we’ve gotten from most of our wedding party after the wedding was how Heather was unprofessional throughout the weekend.
There were multiple times where we were supposed to meet with her, and she was either sick or had a family emergency, and didn’t bother to tell us until we contacted her asking where she was because she didn’t show up. One of those times was the day of the rehearsal. We get it, emergencies happen, and no one can control when they do. However, we asked her if there was anyone else who could cover for her so she could take care of her personal matters, but she said it was only her, so we were left to do the rehearsal on our own.
Even though her job was to coordinate and take stress off of us and our wedding party, we honestly felt the opposite. We understand that she was trying to stick to the schedule, but we felt rushed the entire day, and it honestly just made things more stressful.
In general, whenever we brought issues to her attention, she was very rude about it, and it took a lot of back and forth to actually get her to fix the issues.
Trash: When the time came to pack up and leave on the day after the wedding, we cleaned out all the trash in the mansion and took all of it out to the dumpster, as required. However, it is important to note, there is only 1 tiny dumpster for both the mansion and reception hall. That dumpster was already partially full when we got there, so it filled up rather quickly. When we asked Heather what we should do with any additional trash, we were told we’d have to take it with us, which 1) is disgusting, 2) we had no space in our car because it was packed to the brim already, 3) we’re not local to the area, so we couldn’t just bring it home, and weren’t about to dump it off on some random business, and 4) dumping trash in another person’s property without their consent is illegal in New York State. Therefore, when it came time to clear out the reception hall, we removed all of our personal belongings and decorations, but were not able to clear out the trash because there was nowhere to put it. There was nothing in the contract that required us to clean out the space, so we had no choice but to leave it. Fast forward to the next day, Heather contacted us asking when we were coming to pick up the remaining trash, and we had to politely tell her exactly what we wrote here.

To be clear, we still had an amazing wedding day, and none of these cons take anything away from that. However, there were a bunch of stress points that we think should not have happened. This might not happen every time, but we feel obligated to share our experience so future couples can make the decision that’s best for them.
We're all about trust. Our community relies on honest reviews to help you make those big decisions with ease.
