What drew us to Montana's work was how much it stood out in its approach. His photos are unlike anything I've seen: so unique, creative, and powerful. We were looking for a photographer who was different, willing to try new things, play with light and composition, and run with his inspirations in the moment. That is Montana.
Our engagement shoot was a full-day adventure in beautiful Santa Barbara, where Montana captured the most stunning moments of us in the most unexpected nooks and crannies of the city -- up against brick walls, behind random buildings-- and later, taking us out into the hills, he was able to capture the most gorgeous sunset shots of us against a natural backdrop. His versatility and skill blew me away, but not as much as his powerful ability to be 100% present during a shoot. He knows how to direct his subjects for the best shots, but always has fun doing it! He's hilarious, and made me laugh countless times throughout the day, putting me totally at ease.
Montana's personality is probably one of his greatest strengths, and one of the reasons I'm so glad we hired him. I had no idea how stressful my wedding day would be. There is just so much going on around you (especially the bride!), that having a photographer be fully present and able to roll with whatever comes, while still making you laugh and capturing the best photos of your life, is priceless. I think at one point I even put Montana in charge of holding my vows! Not to mention that his lovely wife, who came with him to our destination wedding in Mexico, was running to fix my bouquet, or grab water, or a hankie to dab sweat. Amazing couple they are! They even put together a slideshow for our guests to enjoy during the reception, and the photos were so beautiful people were tearing up.
There are a few things you can do without for your wedding, but a good photographer is truly priceless. If I could do it all over again, I would hire Montana in a heartbeat!
