Most wedding studios come with a sales rep, an associate photographer, and an editor you’ll never meet, and you pay for all of them. With NarBear, you get one person: me.

I’m Grant. The person who answers your first email is the same person who shoots your wedding and edits every image. There are no handoffs, no associate shooter you meet for the first time at the ceremony, and no studio overhead built into your price. That’s how I keep my rates affordable without cutting corners on the part that matters most: the photos.

And the photos are the point. My work is editorial and cinematic: warm, film-inspired images that will look as good in thirty years as they do the week you get them, and still feel like the two of you, not two models who borrowed your outfits. I’m based in Monterey and shoot weddings from San Francisco and San Jose down to San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, and Ventura.

When I’m not at weddings, I’m usually shooting black-and-white street photography or chasing sunrise in Yosemite. Street photography taught me to see a moment just before it happens, because there’s no take two. That’s exactly the skill you want on a day when the best moments aren’t scripted and don’t repeat.

Because it’s just me, I’m with you from start to finish. I help build your timeline and walk your venue with you beforehand, so I already know where the light is when it matters. On the day, I bring a Polaroid camera, so some of your memories exist in your hand before they exist on your phone. Afterward, you get every high-res image in an online gallery, with no fee to download your own wedding.

I also shoot engagement sessions and offer heirloom albums and prints for the photos that deserve more than a phone screen.
