After searching through lots of dresses, it felt like a sigh of relief to realize I could create my dream dress from start to finish with the amazing designers at Modern Trousseau. They were so helpful and kind, responsive and detail-oriented. Not to mention they did overnight adjustments VERY close to my wedding to help make sure I felt totally comfortable and beautiful in my dress. Modern Trousseau Washington DC is a hidden gem! Kelly was beyond patient and positive as I searched for my dress and changed my wedding style. I ended up getting a custom dress, which I fell in love with and didn't want to take off on my wedding day. The entire process from start to finish was great. I had a wonderful experience with Modern Trousseau! I originally hated wedding dress shopping and found the whole process stressful, but then I went here and started to really enjoy it. Their dresses are gorgeous and the level of customer service is amazing. I don’t even feel right calling it “customer service” - I was really made to feel like a friend more than a customer. The designer herself was there for my appointment, and she and my mom had a great time while we all sipped champagne. The entire process - from my first time going there to the final fitting - was so easy and fun. And most importantly - the dress was SO gorgeous. I still can’t get over it, and months later I’m still getting compliments. And it had pockets! I really couldn’t recommend Modern Trousseau more.

I had such an amazing, unique experience working with Modern Trousseau on my wedding gown. Going to New Haven for the fittings was such an incredible opportunity to see the kind of craftsmanship and design that goes into every single dress they produce. When i went for my muslin fitting for my Virginia gown, Ilma adjusted the cut of the top and back of the dress to better flatter my figure. Every time I went and saw the dress getting closer and closer to being complete the team was making small adjustments to ensure that the dress fit me perfectly. The final product was so beautiful, the lace on Modern Trosseau dresses is absolutely gorgeous, and the dress was so comfortable I didn't want to take it off at the end of the night.
Ilma also helped to fit my mom for a corset for her dress, and even sewed in padding on one side to help her feel more comfortable and confident after breast cancer surgery. We had such a great experience with Modern Trousseau!

Purchasing my wedding gown from Modern Trousseau was the best decision I could have made! From my first appointment with Emily in the NYC showroom to my last fitting appointment in Connecticut, everything was absolutely flawless! I visited the NYC showroom twice a few months apart and ended up choosing a dress that I had feel in love with during my first appointment. Emily was so sweet and made me feel so special. She never pressured me into a purchase or made me feel like I had to rush into a decision. When you get your dress from Modern Trousseau is it truly a custom couture gown! I am very petite and I had an extremely difficult time finding a dress that would fit correctly. Fear not, at Modern Trousseau’s muslin fitting the dress is literally created around you and directly to your proportions instead of simply ordering the closest standard size like typical bridal salons. Monika was my seamstress in Connecticut and she made the travel from NJ to my fittings absolutely worth it, she was brilliant! She made sure my dress fit perfectly, it was stunning! We also created a custom veil! Guests at the wedding could not stop talking about how beautiful the dress was!

I found my Modern Trousseau gown at a local bridal salon however they were unclear about what alterations were and were not possible. I really wanted to add a bolero and make a gown strapless. I ended up going to NYC to try it on again and speak to them about alterations possibilities, was a completely different response. They were SO flexible and offered so many options and allowed me to truly personalize this beautiful gown. I did my alterations in CT and the entire process was so special and I could not have asked for a better experience. They shipped my gown to me and it was in perfect condition. If you are looking for a wonderful designer who is open to alterations, look no further.

Modern Trousseau was a pleasure to work with to the highest order. This review is really for any NYC gals who aren't sure if it's worth the trip to Woodbridge, CT (that was me). My fittings were all in the dead of winter and every trip up to CT was worth the drive. I worked with Monika who was patient and brilliant. She customized every detail until I was beyond thrilled. Not to mention, MT dresses are stunning, unique and so comfortable.

Modern Trousseau was absolutely fabulous to work with! I chose their Mina dress and had the dress built custom for me (an absolutely awesome feature if you live close by). The dress fit beautifully and to top it off they were so flexible and easy to work with. At one point I had added buttons to my dress and when I actually saw them on, it did not look right and the team there removed it for me without making me feel bad at all about my decision. I felt like a princess on my wedding day and attribute that largely to my Modern Trousseau dress.

My dress was custom made by Aggie at Modern Trousseau in Woodbridge and I could not be happier with the results! Her professionalism and expertise made each fitting a breeze. She provided so many useful tips and suggestions to ensure I looked my best on my wedding day. I couldn't be happier with the professionalism of the services and the gorgeous dress she produced!

I simply cannot say enough good things about Modern Trousseau!! I am terribly sad that I will not get to have another wedding dress made for my by them. I am looking for any and all reasons to return and have another custom dress. Unbelievable - incomparable - unquestioningly the best decision I made regarding my wedding, aside from my spouse. :)

I had a very specific vision for what I wanted, and it didn't exist in Manhattan. I know, because I looked. Even Kleinfeld's, home of 10,000 wedding dresses didn't have it. Enter: Modern Trousseau.

They had a dress with the exact top I wanted. I brought them my Pinterest Board full of dress inspiration, and the sketched out a design for the bottom. Then, they built it - to absolute perfection. I'd go in for a fitting (all done in CT; I'm assuming if they had such a large production house in Manhattan, the dresses would cost at least double, then I'd be priced out), and they'd nip and tuck exactly as I requested. They actually built the dress on me, around me, and BEAUTIFULLY AND PERFECTLY!

I wish I could keep wearing it. David is one of the owners and he's so kind. Cassie is the designer, and she's very talented. I had Monica as my seamstress, and she's beyond talented. She "got" me, even when I was struggling to find the right words to convey what I wanted.

I visited Modern Trousseau with a friend 18 months prior to my own visit. I assumed it was out of my price range since customization is their speciality. I am not wealthy, but I was able to swing a custom dress! It won't break the bank, but they surely do cost more than David's Bridal. They made me a custom, couture gown, and I'll forever be grateful for their attention to detail and kindness to me, the nervous bride (btw - we had a short engagement, and they still helped me pull off a gown in just a few months!).
