Team
Hi, I'm Julie Guerette, Owner of the Maine Event Planning Co. After what seems, fate had its way. I stumbled into events when I started volunteering at the local hospital by my college. From there, events stole my heart, and a child who dreamed of being a professional businesswoman in finance found herself daydreaming of the fundraising event or party to host (I'm not talking college ragers!). I found myself hosting study groups where I'd bake fresh desserts, fancy snacks and bring out special wine glasses that were my grandmother's to serve beverage of choice. I guess you can say I was creating "experiences" before I even knew what that meant. I spent over 15 years in Nonprofit events; in 2015, my former boss asked me to be his daughter's day-of coordinator at her wedding, and from there, I fell in love with the magic of weddings. Since that day, I have continued to enjoy planning and bringing couples' dream day to fruition.
When I'm not dreaming of the next event, you can find my family and me enjoying our second home on the rocky Maine coast. That includes searching for sea glass, beach yoga, coastal yard "saling," watching my son catching giant Maine crabs on the local public dock (I have a glass of wine in hand), at the sandy beach, and enjoying the sand between our toes with my daughter, boating around the greater Boothbay area, and the rare but cherished moments of sitting on our deck drinking G&Ts with my husband as the sun sets and waves crash.
In the winter, you will find my family and me at Sugarloaf. Often with all 7 of my nieces and nephews and a few other parents at the toe. We ski, eating "Bag Burgers," sledding down the bunny trail at night, or swim at the pool. We can't wait to get there on Friday in pursuit of soaking up the magic of all Sugarloaf provides us.
I also find respite in my garden that started as only tulips my husband bought and his grandmother Iris's that we received after she passed. I never thought I would be a "Gardiner," but after having zero colors in the garden after June 15th, I would begin being consumed with creating a garden that has color in it all season long. From the first sights of crocuses to sedum long-lasting fall color and texture. This passion has grown to 4 gardens, and I enjoy making flower arrangements to scatter throughout my house. So much so, my son calls me the "crazy flower lady."
