WOW. Kate photographed our June 2025 wedding at Camp Mataponi in Naples, Maine and we are totally blown away with the results. Kate is so incredibly talented. Definitely recommend!!! I've never seen natural light and colors captured so well before.

We cannot thank Kate enough for her work at on our special day. My husband and I had never taken professional photos before and couldn't do an engagement shoot because we live across the country. We clicked with Kate instantly when we met and she was such great energy all weekend. She helped position us in ways to help us look best, which is what I really needed since I had no idea how to take a good picture and wanted to love these pictures for the rest of my life. Her photos stand out from other wedding photos in how unique and fun they are and capture incredibly deep moments we would have missed otherwise. There are not enough amazing things I can say about Kate. If I could give her 10 stars on everything, I would! A phenomenal photographer that I could trust was my #1 must have for our wedding. I had seen her work from a friend's wedding years before and immediately sought her out when the time came for ours. Having a photography background myself, I was VERY picky about our photographer choices, and found myself always comparing everyone else to Kate. Her images captured the feel, the emotions, the action, and the dramatic natural landscape perfectly. All of these things were important for us on our day. She's not a filter kind of gal; she understands the technical aspects behind great photography and I trust her 1000%. Her second photographer (Ashley) was also amazing. They both made us laugh and feel comfortable, like we'd all known each other forever. If it wasn't for the two of them, our portraits would have taken forever. Kate is on point and SUPER organized. She was the best decision I made regarding our wedding (next to marrying my husband) :) THANK YOU KATE!

I am at a loss for words when it comes to how well Kate did at photographing our wedding. She was open, available, detailed, and professional. I can recommend Kate without reservation to capture your wedding. I’m going to break my review into four sections and provide my experience with each.

Photograph Quality

I’ll start with what most people want to know. Her photographs are spectacular. I’m uploading a few examples, but she captured everything and then some. The photographs she took really do allow me to relive the day. They captured not just the event, but the emotion and the narrative. I remember thinking to myself that we would be lucky to get a shot or two that looked like the ones on her website, but we have several dozen that impress on their own and several dozen more that bring joy to my heart every time I see them.

Planning and Preparation

Kate starts the relationship with a fairly comprehensive questionnaire. She tries to get an idea of who you are and what you are looking to capture. She asks about and knows vendors in the area. She was willing to provide recommendation or a second opinion if she knows anything. She answered any and all questions in advance of the wedding. She takes initiative to reach out and confirm any and all details.

Kate was up front and honest about all pricing for the wedding.

Day of

On the day of our wedding Kate was on time and prepared. We opted for a second photographer who split with Kate and allowed the preparation to be photographed separately. With very few exceptions Kate and her assistant were flies on the wall during the wedding. They were available, but never in the way. They were capturing all the moments but allowing everyone else to enjoy them as well. They were everywhere and nowhere at the same time.

Our photography was split into four time periods.

1. Getting ready (one-on-one with the photographers)
2. First look (staged photographs)
3. Ceremony/Reception
4. Family Photos (posed photographs)

The bulk of our photos were from the Ceremony/Reception. The family photos were quick and to the point (which is just how I like them to be!). The first look photos really shone a light on Kates years of experience. She and her assistant had an eye for detail. They used this to line up several amazing shots.

Follow Up

The follow up was excellent. She communicated very quickly what to expect and delivered everything ahead of schedule. There was even a nice amount of detail put into our post-wedding package.


I can conclude by reiterating that I recommend Kate without reservation. As someone who did not understand the value of a photographer before my wedding, I can say without a doubt that I was blown away by the value she delivered.

If you are in the Maine area and getting married, you will regret not adding Kate to your potential photographers.

I’ve known Kate for decades. When she started her photography business, I started following with interest. By the time I was planning my wedding, I knew there was no other choice for me: Kate had to photograph my wedding. Her work was breathtaking (stylistically photojournalist, which is my preferred style) and I knew she would be great to work with. She had already seen me at some of my worst moments and had been there for some of my best (thanks to a shared sport). She was a calm, positive influence through it all. Despite not seeing her in about 10 years, we picked up right where we left off – friendly, excited to connect on our similarities, and totally focused on the task at hand. I kid you not that the second I signed my contract with Point Lookout, I signed my contract with Kate. She was that important to me.

Kate was a huge resource through much of my planning – I sent her my pre/post wedding shots (all the family portraits, etc.), and she gave me realistic timelines. I ran my day-of schedule by her and Jess at Point Lookout a month or two in advance, and was able to ensure we got all the shots we wanted. We even were running 30 minutes ahead of schedule by the time the wedding was scheduled to start!

I couldn’t have asked for a better photographer duo for my wedding. Kate and her second, Ashley, were wonderfully positive, friendly, and encouraging. I much prefer to be behind the camera lens, but both Kate and Ashley drew me out with shared jokes and made sure I was having fun. She got all the shots I wanted and then some. It’s been so hard to choose the favorites I want to share – the photos where we’re getting ready, the portraits of my husband and I, my sister-in-law performing the ceremony, how I forgot my bouquet with my Maid of Honor but got one of the sweetest photos of my husband and I that I’m sure I will ever see, dancing in the rain during dusk, the parent dances, the speeches, and moments on the dance floor I missed. Kate and Ashley captured it all. I’ve loved looking through the photos to the point where I can’t decide which ones I want to feature the most!

To top it off, Kate knew we were under a time crunch. My husband was deploying soon after we got married, and she worked insanely hard to get us our photos before he left so we could enjoy them together. Kate didn’t just make our day personal, she made our overall experience personal. I didn’t have to request updates for photos (I understood it might take 2 months! She’s got a ton of other clients and puts care into her work!), she was in contact with me the whole time. I would hire her again in a heartbeat if I ever had a reason to. She was easily one of the best and earliest decisions of our wedding planning process. I can’t wait to make my way back to Bangor to thank her in person (again!).

Booking Kate was the best decision we could have possibly made for our wedding photography. As soon as we booked our venue, they suggested reaching out to Kate to see if she would be available (and warned us to get a move on since she was so popular). Thankfully she had our wedding date free, and from the minute I met her I knew she would be our photographer. Kate is professional, organized, charming and easy to talk to. She took an immediate interest in learning what would make our wedding special, and was amazingly helpful throughout the planning process.

I was so excited to have her with us for our wedding - and she somehow managed to exceed my expectations! Kate and her second photographer Ashley were the perfect additions to our families on our special day. They were so much fun to spend time with, and we truly felt like we had two of our best friends taking the photos, even though we had all just met. Since our big day we have loved seeing the beautiful photos and have been so impressed with the speed with which Kate has gotten us our photos. Not only are the photos stunning, but Kate and Ashley managed to capture the joy and emotion of the day in a way that is truly poetic. They are magical!!

I truly cannot say enough positive things about Kate and could continue singing her praises forever. Long story short: if Kate is available on your wedding date, BOOK HER!

Man oh man, what can I say about Kate Crabtree and the magical photography services she brought to our wedding. Simply put, her work will be the biggest reminder that my wife and I will ever have in reliving those incredible moments throughout our special day. Kate brings a pure sense of fun to the entire experience. Whereas my wife and I are both a bit camera shy, Kate puts us at complete ease and blends into the environment capturing those exact candid moments that are uniquely us. But when she sees a rare opportunity for the perfect outdoor shot, she’s not shy enough to pull you aside when the window is closing and you’ll be glad she did. In our particular case, my wife dreaded the idea of rainfall on our wedding day and when it inevitably came to fruition, Kate captured probably the best shot that could possibly come from rain on a wedding day. Our single best photo probably came from that moment when my wife and I were standing outside in the rain – I never would have guessed how “lucky” we were to have rain on our wedding day if not for Kate’s creativity. Kate has an unmatched ability to take the environment we’re in and make it come to life. We are so grateful to have had her with us on our biggest day and honestly she’s one of the coolest and most down to earth people you could ever meet. She is one of very few people in this professional world that truly has a passion for her work and it shows in her final product. When searching for your ideal photographer in the state of Maine, don’t even bother trying to compare the competition – save yourself some time (you’ll need it elsewhere in your wedding planning) and go with Kate. You will have no regrets and you may even make a good friend out of the process.

We had a friend recommend Kate Crabtree to us, right after getting engaged. After seeing her work and posts on her website, we couldn't believe how talented she was and scheduled her to be with us at our wedding, before we scheduling anything else. That was the best decision we made! Kate is incredibly professional and personable, and we trusted her completely preparing for wedding. She helped us pick our venue, our photo locations, and other vendors she recommended in the area. On the day of our wedding we spent about 4 hours just taking pictures around Mount Desert Island, it was so much fun! And the pictures came out better than we could ever imagine. Kate captured every moment and every emotion that day, she never missed a second.

I wanted to post now, just after getting back from our honeymoon. I can comment on our experience with Kate, which was terrific in every way. We’ve already gotten a sneak peak of our photos and the one we’ve seen is stunning! I’ll be happy to post again after we’ve received the photos, but there is already so much to say.

First of all, Kate’s photos: uh, hello...if you haven’t seen them. Go, thee, to the website, and check them out now. Even if you are not getting married. I told her once that they really are just worth seeing. Art for art’s sake. You don’t even have to be interested in weddings or know the people in them. You’ll feel like you do. She draws you in. She finds the moment. She finds the story. She finds the connection and the personality and brings it life in an unusual, gripping, surprising, and revealing way. Well, her work speaks for itself. What I want to comment on additionally here is how great she is to work with. She makes you feel right at home. We were both so comfortable around her and she has a way of encouraging your true self to burst free without inhibition. The same goes for your “couple self.” It’s exactly what you want for your day. Permission. Encouragement to be you and you together. Not frozen or forced conventional poses that you must assume but your inner story and quirk being wedding whisperered out of you. My spouse and I eloped this October in Ogunquit, ME and wondered if it would feel sad or lonely (it was truly just us—no family or friends) but it didn’t at all and Kate was a part of that magic of belonging. She was present and supportive in all the right ways and disappeared without us even knowing when the moment called for it. She has a true calling, and she’s a true professional. She’s also a ton of fun. You won’t be sorry you hired her.
