  Incredibly Unique and Talented

  We cannot thank Kate enough for her work at on our special day. My husband and I had never taken professional photos before and couldn't do an engagement shoot because we live across the country. We clicked with Kate instantly when we met and she was such great energy all weekend. She helped position us in ways to help us look best, which is what I really needed since I had no idea how to take a good picture and wanted to love these pictures for the rest of my life. Her photos stand out from other wedding photos in how unique and fun they are and capture incredibly deep moments we would have missed otherwise. She is like no other wedding photographer you'll find and you won't regret hiring her for photos you'll look at forever.

  Kate Crabtree! We cant thank you enough!

  Kate Crabtree did more than capture the essence and spirit of our wedding day! She is truly an artist. Her unique, vibrant, colorful and creative style captured moments that blew our minds, filled our eyes with tears and will be framed and displayed forever in our home. She exceeded our vision for still frames captured on our wedding day.
  Kate is genuinely kind, reliable and super organized - which was important given our micro-wedding took place during a pandemic! She's a total professional and an all encompassing wonderful photographer that we would (and already have) recommend to friends, family and acquaintances.
  We can not thank you enough Kate! And we so look forward to working with you again.

  The best photos we will ever have of ourselves

  There are not enough amazing things I can say about Kate. If I could give her 10 stars on everything, I would! A phenomenal photographer that I could trust was my #1 must have for our wedding. I had seen her work from a friend's wedding years before and immediately sought her out when the time came for ours. Having a photography background myself, I was VERY picky about our photographer choices, and found myself always comparing everyone else to Kate. Her images captured the feel, the emotions, the action, and the dramatic natural landscape perfectly. All of these things were important for us on our day. She's not a filter kind of gal; she understands the technical aspects behind great photography and I trust her 1000%. Her second photographer (Ashley) was also amazing. They both made us laugh and feel comfortable, like we'd all known each other forever. If it wasn't for the two of them, our portraits would have taken forever. Kate is on point and SUPER organized. She was the best decision I made regarding our wedding (next to marrying my husband) :) THANK YOU KATE!

  Blown away by the quality of the photos

  I am at a loss for words when it comes to how well Kate did at photographing our wedding. She was open, available, detailed, and professional. I can recommend Kate without reservation to capture your wedding. I’m going to break my review into four sections and provide my experience with each.

  Photograph Quality
  
  I’ll start with what most people want to know. Her photographs are spectacular. I’m uploading a few examples, but she captured everything and then some. The photographs she took really do allow me to relive the day. They captured not just the event, but the emotion and the narrative. I remember thinking to myself that we would be lucky to get a shot or two that looked like the ones on her website, but we have several dozen that impress on their own and several dozen more that bring joy to my heart every time I see them.
  
  Planning and Preparation
  
  Kate starts the relationship with a fairly comprehensive questionnaire. She tries to get an idea of who you are and what you are looking to capture. She asks about and knows vendors in the area. She was willing to provide recommendation or a second opinion if she knows anything. She answered any and all questions in advance of the wedding. She takes initiative to reach out and confirm any and all details.
  
  Kate was up front and honest about all pricing for the wedding.
  
  Day of
  
  On the day of our wedding Kate was on time and prepared. We opted for a second photographer who split with Kate and allowed the preparation to be photographed separately. With very few exceptions Kate and her assistant were flies on the wall during the wedding. They were available, but never in the way. They were capturing all the moments but allowing everyone else to enjoy them as well. They were everywhere and nowhere at the same time.
  
  Our photography was split into four time periods.
  
  1. Getting ready (one-on-one with the photographers)
  2. First look (staged photographs)
  3. Ceremony/Reception
  4. Family Photos (posed photographs)
  
  The bulk of our photos were from the Ceremony/Reception. The family photos were quick and to the point (which is just how I like them to be!). The first look photos really shone a light on Kates years of experience. She and her assistant had an eye for detail. They used this to line up several amazing shots.
  
  Follow Up
  
  The follow up was excellent. She communicated very quickly what to expect and delivered everything ahead of schedule. There was even a nice amount of detail put into our post-wedding package.
  
  
  I can conclude by reiterating that I recommend Kate without reservation. As someone who did not understand the value of a photographer before my wedding, I can say without a doubt that I was blown away by the value she delivered.
  
  If you are in the Maine area and getting married, you will regret not adding Kate to your potential photographers.

  Oh my goodness, Kate is the best!

  Booking Kate was the best decision we could have possibly made for our wedding photography. As soon as we booked our venue, they suggested reaching out to Kate to see if she would be available (and warned us to get a move on since she was so popular). Thankfully she had our wedding date free, and from the minute I met her I knew she would be our photographer. Kate is professional, organized, charming and easy to talk to. She took an immediate interest in learning what would make our wedding special, and was amazingly helpful throughout the planning process.
  
  I was so excited to have her with us for our wedding - and she somehow managed to exceed my expectations! Kate and her second photographer Ashley were the perfect additions to our families on our special day. They were so much fun to spend time with, and we truly felt like we had two of our best friends taking the photos, even though we had all just met. Since our big day we have loved seeing the beautiful photos and have been so impressed with the speed with which Kate has gotten us our photos. Not only are the photos stunning, but Kate and Ashley managed to capture the joy and emotion of the day in a way that is truly poetic. They are magical!!
  
  I truly cannot say enough positive things about Kate and could continue singing her praises forever. Long story short: if Kate is available on your wedding date, BOOK HER!

  One of the best decisions we made

  I’ve known Kate for decades. When she started her photography business, I started following with interest. By the time I was planning my wedding, I knew there was no other choice for me: Kate had to photograph my wedding. Her work was breathtaking (stylistically photojournalist, which is my preferred style) and I knew she would be great to work with. She had already seen me at some of my worst moments and had been there for some of my best (thanks to a shared sport). She was a calm, positive influence through it all. Despite not seeing her in about 10 years, we picked up right where we left off – friendly, excited to connect on our similarities, and totally focused on the task at hand. I kid you not that the second I signed my contract with Point Lookout, I signed my contract with Kate. She was that important to me.
  
  Kate was a huge resource through much of my planning – I sent her my pre/post wedding shots (all the family portraits, etc.), and she gave me realistic timelines. I ran my day-of schedule by her and Jess at Point Lookout a month or two in advance, and was able to ensure we got all the shots we wanted. We even were running 30 minutes ahead of schedule by the time the wedding was scheduled to start!
  
  I couldn’t have asked for a better photographer duo for my wedding. Kate and her second, Ashley, were wonderfully positive, friendly, and encouraging. I much prefer to be behind the camera lens, but both Kate and Ashley drew me out with shared jokes and made sure I was having fun. She got all the shots I wanted and then some. It’s been so hard to choose the favorites I want to share – the photos where we’re getting ready, the portraits of my husband and I, my sister-in-law performing the ceremony, how I forgot my bouquet with my Maid of Honor but got one of the sweetest photos of my husband and I that I’m sure I will ever see, dancing in the rain during dusk, the parent dances, the speeches, and moments on the dance floor I missed. Kate and Ashley captured it all. I’ve loved looking through the photos to the point where I can’t decide which ones I want to feature the most!
  
  To top it off, Kate knew we were under a time crunch. My husband was deploying soon after we got married, and she worked insanely hard to get us our photos before he left so we could enjoy them together. Kate didn’t just make our day personal, she made our overall experience personal. I didn’t have to request updates for photos (I understood it might take 2 months! She’s got a ton of other clients and puts care into her work!), she was in contact with me the whole time. I would hire her again in a heartbeat if I ever had a reason to. She was easily one of the best and earliest decisions of our wedding planning process. I can’t wait to make my way back to Bangor to thank her in person (again!).

  I wanted to post now, just after getting back from our honeymoon. I can comment on our experience with Kate, which was terrific in every way. We’ve already gotten a sneak peak of our photos and the one we’ve seen is stunning! I’ll be happy to post again after we’ve received the photos, but there is already so much to say.
  
  First of all, Kate’s photos: uh, hello...if you haven’t seen them. Go, thee, to the website, and check them out now. Even if you are not getting married. I told her once that they really are just worth seeing. Art for art’s sake. You don’t even have to be interested in weddings or know the people in them. You’ll feel like you do. She draws you in. She finds the moment. She finds the story. She finds the connection and the personality and brings it life in an unusual, gripping, surprising, and revealing way. Well, her work speaks for itself. What I want to comment on additionally here is how great she is to work with. She makes you feel right at home. We were both so comfortable around her and she has a way of encouraging your true self to burst free without inhibition. The same goes for your “couple self.” It’s exactly what you want for your day. Permission. Encouragement to be you and you together. Not frozen or forced conventional poses that you must assume but your inner story and quirk being wedding whisperered out of you. My spouse and I eloped this October in Ogunquit, ME and wondered if it would feel sad or lonely (it was truly just us—no family or friends) but it didn’t at all and Kate was a part of that magic of belonging. She was present and supportive in all the right ways and disappeared without us even knowing when the moment called for it. She has a true calling, and she’s a true professional. She’s also a ton of fun. You won’t be sorry you hired her.

  We had a friend recommend Kate Crabtree to us, right after getting engaged. After seeing her work and posts on her website, we couldn't believe how talented she was and scheduled her to be with us at our wedding, before we scheduling anything else. That was the best decision we made! Kate is incredibly professional and personable, and we trusted her completely preparing for wedding. She helped us pick our venue, our photo locations, and other vendors she recommended in the area. On the day of our wedding we spent about 4 hours just taking pictures around Mount Desert Island, it was so much fun! And the pictures came out better than we could ever imagine. Kate captured every moment and every emotion that day, she never missed a second.

  Kate was absolutely phenomenal from the very first meeting throughout the entire process! We couldn't have asked for a more on point, fun loving, talented photographer! Kate sees the beauty in everything and has a knack for highlighting that beauty for the world to see. Our photos are beyond our wildest dreams! She captured all of the emotion from tears to laugher. Looking at our photos is like reliving the entire day over again! She was very quick to respond to all of my questions and quickly became one of the family! She is very professional but still knows how to bust out a killer happy dance! 100% the best decision of our wedding was hiring Kate! You will not be disappointed! <3

  Man oh man, what can I say about Kate Crabtree and the magical photography services she brought to our wedding. Simply put, her work will be the biggest reminder that my wife and I will ever have in reliving those incredible moments throughout our special day. Kate brings a pure sense of fun to the entire experience. Whereas my wife and I are both a bit camera shy, Kate puts us at complete ease and blends into the environment capturing those exact candid moments that are uniquely us. But when she sees a rare opportunity for the perfect outdoor shot, she’s not shy enough to pull you aside when the window is closing and you’ll be glad she did. In our particular case, my wife dreaded the idea of rainfall on our wedding day and when it inevitably came to fruition, Kate captured probably the best shot that could possibly come from rain on a wedding day. Our single best photo probably came from that moment when my wife and I were standing outside in the rain – I never would have guessed how “lucky” we were to have rain on our wedding day if not for Kate’s creativity.   Man oh man, what can I say about Kate Crabtree and the magical photography services she brought to our wedding. Simply put, her work will be the biggest reminder that my wife and I will ever have in reliving those incredible moments throughout our special day. Kate brings a pure sense of fun to the entire experience. Whereas my wife and I are both a bit camera shy, Kate puts us at complete ease and blends into the environment capturing those exact candid moments that are uniquely us. But when she sees a rare opportunity for the perfect outdoor shot, she’s not shy enough to pull you aside when the window is closing and you’ll be glad she did. In our particular case, my wife dreaded the idea of rainfall on our wedding day and when it inevitably came to fruition, Kate captured probably the best shot that could possibly come from rain on a wedding day.   My husband and I had Kate photograph our July 2016 wedding on Peaks Island in Maine. I could not be happier with our photos. Kate was such a joy to work with from beginning to end. The quality of her work, her passion for photography, and her people-skills are incredible. She so easily fit in with my friends and family during our wedding day it felt like she was a member of the family!   Early on in the wedding planning process, we both knew that a good photographer to capture our day was something we were willing to invest in, one of the best decisions of the whole process (besides picking Kate, of course!). Excellent pictures that captured the emotions of the day is one thing, but all of the help along the way surpassed our expectations too. Once booking Kate we received a very complete FAQ document (perfect for someone who thrives on organization like myself), as well as feedback and suggestions on the overall time-line of the day.
  
  Kate and Tammie (her second shooter / mom) are extremely talented, fun, and professional. I won’t speak much about the actual photos, as the proof is in her work on her website, but much of the beauty of those photos is how relaxed she makes you feel during both the engagement and photo shot. She’s also very adventurous… standing on the back of a canoe for a great shot? No problem for Kate!

  Kate was hands down my first choice wedding photographer. When I called her she told me she had planned to take the week of July 4th as a holiday week...but that the details of the wedding spoke to her and she wanted to work with us. THANK GOODNESS. Kate might not know this :) but I had very high expectations based on her countless glowing reviews but mostly her body of work which truly speaks for itself. That said Kate and her second shooter Tammie (here mom) surpassed any expectations I had. They quite frankly blew them out of the water. Thinking I was a laid back bride (haha) what I couldn't have foreseen was the stress of the day or the importance of being surrounded by calm, organized, thoughtful and fun people. I also couldn't have know that she and Tammie had amazing personalities and that the vibe they give off is exactly the one you want to be surrounded with on the day of your wedding. They were so discrete I forgot they were there at times but the photos tell a different story. They were everywhere!! If I needed direction Kate was there saying "the sun is setting in 15 minutes would you like to take sunset pictures?". She kept me on track to capture everything we had discussed prior to the day insuring that all the special moments I had labored over planning were beautifuly photographed. There aren't enough nice things I can say about Kate and Tammie but I guess the honest truth is if I had to do it again I wouldn't change a thing. The wedding day flies by in an instance but the photos last a lifetime. I'm so thankful to Kate and Tammie for capturing our wedding for us.

  Working with Kate was amazing! I had met her a couple years back at another wedding and was so impressed at how sweet she was and her pictures were so great. I was thrilled when she was available to be my photographer! I am in Mass and we were getting married in Maine and she made everything so easy. She had so many helpful documents and all the online payments were so convenient. She answered all my questions and always made me feel important. We opted out of the engagement shoot and in hind sight, I wish we did it to have even more awesome pics.
  On my wedding day Kate was so calm and pleasant to be around. Her and her second shooter, who is her mom (so cute!), were like photo ninjas and other than the formal picture times I barely noticed them. Yet, they captured everything! The pics were fun and candid. She also has an amazing way of capturing colors. My pictures represent my wedding day perfectly. The blog with sneak peaks were up in less than 2 weeks and the flash drive was at my house in about 3 weeks. So fast and efficient. The packaging the flash drive came in was so cute too! She thought of everything. Working with Kate feels like working with a friend and anyone will be lucky to choose her for their wedding.

  Many people have strong ideas about what they want in planning their wedding. We knew the vibe we wanted to create, but really weren't interested in being bogged down by the details. Although I'm sure Kate could handle the most demanding bride, I loved that she knew what to do with a couple that was totally clueless. She helped us figure out how much time to allot for photos and essentially helped us write our wedding timeline (including helping me figure out how much time I needed to get ready).
  
  When the weather forecast for our outdoor wedding was predicting 90-100% chance of rain, she was in touch all week and provided some last minute tips and lots of optimism. She had no problem rolling with the rain and overcast skies (that ended up making for some awesomely dramatic photos) when the forecast turned out to be accurate. When we postponed for an hour because of threatening rain, Kate capitalized on the time to get some portraits of me with my girlfriends and parents. She and her second shooter were prepared for anything, and I completely trusted them to capture every beautiful moment.
  
  Kate's photographs, not surprisingly, came out freaking amazing! She really brought our personalities to life, and caught deliciously precious moments with our friends and family. And she didn't even keep us in suspense! She posted a sneak peak the morning after, she wrote a great blog post with an exciting smattering of pictures, AND she had our whole gallery finished before we even got back from our honeymoon! Kate Crabtree - our highest recommendations.

When we started talking to photographers, we instantly felt that Kate understood our vision, would be easy to work with, and professional. Throughout the year she was very helpful in giving advice/suggestions and staying in touch. We were both somewhat apprehensive about doing engagement photos, and were slightly nervous as we began the shoot. Kate was relaxed, made us laugh, and in turn made us feel comfortable. She was also efficient and very good at choosing spots with lighting, or guiding us so that our photos looked natural-not staged. After our engagement shoot, and after viewing the photos, we were both blown away by her talent.
  
  On our actual wedding day, we chose to have Kate and a second photographer, Tammy, to ensure that we captured every moment of the day. We also chose to do many of our photos before the wedding, so that we could enjoy our cocktail hour/reception. Kate and Tammy did a great job organizing our large families, and were again very efficient in their ability to choose spots with great lighting and highlight the vistas of the property. Throughout the day they captured all aspects of our wedding: running from the lawn to catch a 7 year old break dance, climbing on rocks to catch a sunset, and capturing special moments between guests without being intrusive.
  
  Now that we have seen our photos we couldn’t be more impressed with Kate’s talent. Her photos truly captured every moment of our wedding, and more importantly she captured “us.” Our wedding guests have continued to compliment on how she genuinely captured the day, and I know that her photos will be something that we treasure for years to come. She put up preview shots for us the day after the wedding, which was great since people were still reminiscing about the night, so it was fun to see a few professional photos not even 24 hours after the event. Her blog post on our wedding was also fun to see, and she delivered the gallery shortly after. I would recommend her to anyone looking for a friendly, professional photographer. Kate is extremely talented and will give you tangible proof of your beautiful memories.

She put up preview shots for us the day after the wedding, which was great since people were still reminiscing about the night, so it was fun to see a few professional photos not even 24 hours after the event. Her blog post on our wedding was also fun to see, and she delivered the gallery shortly after. I would recommend her to anyone looking for a friendly, professional photographer. Kate is extremely talented and will give you tangible proof of your beautiful memories.

  To put it simply, Kate is amazing. From the first moment I spoke with her on the phone, it felt like I was talking with an old friend. Choosing a wedding photographer was one of the most important decisions when it came to selecting vendors and I did quite a lot of searching. Her beautiful work is what initially drew me to her and she absolutely had my interest, but once I spoke with her the first time, I knew she was the perfect choice for our wedding. We even had her travel over 200 miles to our wedding in New Hampshire. The quality and style of her work was exactly what I was looking for and I could not be happier with the results. She captured not only the look of our special day, but the atmosphere, fun and love that we felt. We always hear nothing but compliments about our wedding photos and Kate and her mom, Tammie, who was her second shooter fit right in with our wedding. She is professional, prompt, fun and most importantly, an extremely talented photographer. I can't recommend her enough!

  Absolutely LOVED Kate! She was so fun to work with. She was excellent at giving us specific instructions and tips with shooting and made our wedding day run smoothly. On the big day she did a great job of capturing all those important details. It's amazing because you don't even realize she is right there shooting you in the most emotional moments until you see your pictures. From the very beginning I was so impressed with her fast responses to e-mail and phone calls. But I was in shock to find that she had edited all our photos with the first 10 days of our wedding... it was magical being able to flip through them all while we were on our honeymoon. She was very helpful with giving vendor suggestions etc. She was an absolute pleasure to work with! My friends loved my pictures so much that they have hired her for their Boston wedding. Hoping to be able to hire her again in the future. Highly recommend Kate to others!! You will not be disappointed.

  Kate was amazing from start to finish. She makes you feel like a friend right from the start. We had a small ceremony at the Inn at Ocean's Edge in Lincolnville, Maine. Kate has an eye for what makes a great photograph and did an excellent job of capturing the true beauty of the location. She truly loves what she does and loves to see a good wedding kiss! I hope we get the chance to work with Kate in the future. I would recommend her to anyone that's planning an upcoming wedding. She is truly amazing!

  Kate went above and beyond! When my husband and I were in the beginning stages of Wedding Planning, our photographer was one of the most important things we wanted for our wedding. When I met with Kate- it was just like Chelsea states in her review, she was like an old friend, and we met over a coffee at Starbucks. Kate was so sweet and bought my coffee!! She listened to all of my ideas, and even gave me some great advice with wedding planning. Hiring Kate as our photographer was the best decision! Over the year we communicated over emails, and Facebook messages- and Kate was amazing at communicating and always so prompt at getting back to me! Organization and Communication are key- and Kate has both!
  The day of the wedding Kate was with us from the time I was getting my hair done to the end of the night when our feet hurt so much from dancing the night away! She captured every emotion, and every detail of our special day, and made us so comfortable. Our guest even commented how great she was!
