History
William and Florence Sloane built the house in 1908, originally as a summer home until using it as their primary residence. The house is an arts and crafts-style home enlarged to 42 rooms by 1936. The owners appreciated art and are described as educated collectors who helped to establish the Norfolk Museum of Arts and Sciences, known now as the Chrysler Museum. Florence and William Sloane’s contribution also extends to beginning the Hermitage Foundation with the purpose of promoting arts and crafts.

I love playing at the Heritage Museum Gardens. Your wedding will be simply stunning and a ceremony by the big tree is my favorite place in the gardens. Look no further for a beautiful venue on the water.

We absolutely LOVE working with the Hermitage Museum and Gardens. The breathtaking views and sunsets, the gorgeous gardens and ceremony spaces, and the intriguing history of the venue are just the beginning. It is truly a magical space and we are so lucky to have it in the Hampton Roads market! Engaged couples, if you are looking for a unique outdoor space, believe us when we say it is an absolute MUST-VISIT when searching for your venue.

This outdoor only venue is beautiful! Many of my couples have booked me to officiate their wedding here. I love every moment because the place is hands down one of the most unique in Hampton Roads. It's located on the water, the gardens are stunning, and the architecture is what draws most if not the other items listed. The staff is attentive and take care of you as well. Happy to endorse! Much love, Pastor Cory <><
