Over the last few months, I have encountered several couples that were disappointed because their favorite uncle, friend, parent or grandparent could not officiate their wedding because the court would not quality them.

I have the solution for that problem. Depending on what date you want on the marriage license, I can perform a very personal one-on-one wedding the day of your wedding or on the day before. Then your desired officiant can carry out your wedding as planned.

Just recently I married a couple at noon and at 5 p.m., the groom’s father from Texas married them at a large family wedding.

Please contact me if I can be of assistance in this way.

Recent Activity

On April 27, I had the pleasure to married Lacy Dalton and her husband, Aaron. Lacy and I have a history that goes back 18 years when she was a child around the age of 2.

During those years, I was teaching childrens church every other Sunday and Lacy was a smiling, blonde haired, full of energy 2 or 3 year old. I remember sitting in the floor and rolling cars and trucks back and forth or PLAYING dolls.

She has now turned into a beautiful young woman starting a new journey in life as a wife. I'm sure she will make a great one.

Lacy, thank you for allowing me the opportinuty to participate in this new stage in life.

Love you

September 7, performed wedding at Shirley Plantation in Charles City County. Approximately 75 people present, venue backs up to the James River. Only down side river nats swarmed you but we made it and had fun doing it.

In March, I had a first time experience of marrying the same couple twiced in one day. I went down to Lake Gaston and met the couple at the grooms parents lake house. Beautiful location, water front, boat dock and decorated for the big event. The couple wrote their own vows and every thing was going as planned until I found out we were in North Carolina. I don't have authority in North Carolina to perform marriages.

Never let it be said I can't solve a problem. The first wedding was in North Carolina and everything went as planned. We left North Carolina and drove one half mile and I married them under the Welcome to Virginia sign using my vows. So, two weddings, two set of vows and two sets of wedding pictures all for one price. A good time was had by all.

September 2022, sometimes things are met to be. Last week I had a wedding scheduled at Libbie Hill Park at the fountain at 7PM. Nice location overlooking the city and James River. As time neared it started raining when I was driving north on 95. The bride called me, they were coming towards the city from Henrico's west end. Raining everywhere. We decided to meet and see what our next step would be.

While filling out the pre-wedding paperwork it stopped raining enough to perform the wedding. Fun time was had by all. The couple in their early 60's and I reminisced about how things were in the 60's and 70's. We didn't let a few rain drops ruin a wonderful event. Love conquers all.

Guess what? it started raining on the way home.

This is not a business for me, it's a way to meet new people after having retired. What better time to meet someone, their young and in love. Occasionally, old and in love.

August 7, 2023, sometimes the Lord sends you a blessing and you weren’t asking for it. Today, I performed a simple wedding at my house. They called at 10am and at 11:30am they were legally attached to each other hopefully for life. The couple were from Africa and not accustomed to our way of doing things.

I perform civil weddings but I make a couple references to Bible scripture. During the wedding, the bride had me stop and asked for advice on how to handle an issue. Never had that happen before.

After marrying them, she asked me to pray, blessing their marriage. I did with a smiling heart. Afterwards, I praised them for allowing me the honor to pray with them and they were like 1 in a hundred who make that request. (Really one in 500)

After completing the paper work, she told me I was someone easy to talk to and asked if they could call me in the future for advice, something like being a godfather. Man, you never know what the day has in store. Of course, I responded I would be honored to talk with them.

After they left, I was filled with joyful emotions and needed to share it.

What can I do this afternoon !!!!

Unforgettable Experience!

Our previous officiant sadly called out so we were scrambling weeks before the wedding. Low and behold, Steve came to our rescue and officiated a beautiful ceremony. He sat down with us before the wedding to go over what type of ceremony we would like with beautiful passages he liked to include. Very accommodating to telling our story for the wedding!

Last Minute Private Ceremony

Steve was phenomenal! Very responsive, professional, and took the time to make sure the ceremony was exactly what we wanted. We asked for a short, but sweet ceremony and Steve delivered it beautifully, even incorporating personal stories of his about what makes a great marriage. His words stuck with us and made for a perfect ceremony.
