James was great to work with from start to finish! I can't say enough good things about him. We were a pandemic wedding and ended up having to postpone our wedding not once, but twice! James was super accommodating throughout the years. As the "BIG" day finally approached, James was very organized with setting up calls and going over the event day - he kept things stress free. On the day of the wedding James was incredible to work with. He was never pushy, but he knew exactly how to capture the day. The photos turned out great - high quality, beautiful pictures. After 2+ years planning I am so glad that James was the photographer that captured our day. Also, I should mention that we had 5 flower girls, a ring bearer and our 5 month old...yes lots of kids. James was great with the kids and never seemed the least bit stressed as we let the kids "do their thing." If I could give James 10 stars, I would!

James' work is STUNNING. When planning our elopement in Acadia National Park, one look at his work and we knew we had to have him. He captured the beauty of the scenery around us, as well as our authentic personalities within the photographs. He was fun and easy-going, while also professional and knowledgable of the area. His assistant Kevin was amazing as well. We had so much fun walking around the park and taking photos. If you are having a wedding in the New England area we highly recommend Flax Studios!

James is one of the best vendor choices we made. He was highly recommended to us by the venue coordinator when we booked our wedding. As soon as we saw his work, I immediately said "I NEED him to shoot our wedding!". We instantly clicked on our first call with him. His vision and style of photography fit exactly what we were looking for. We booked him after that very first call! we actually didn't speak to or consider any other photographers! That's how much we loved him and his work from the start. James was always very professional and easy to get in touch with. Early on, we had absolutely no idea what were were doing, but James walked us through everything from start to finish.
We first had James take our engagement photos a few months before the wedding and he did an absolutely stunning job! Having photos professionally taken can be really awkward, but James is super laid back and fun and immediately helps take those nerves away. We had our engagement photos taken in Camden Maine, James took us to at least 5 or 6 different locations in the area to get a array of different shots. They all came out gorgeous!
For our wedding, we hired James' wife Laureh as a second photographer, which we are so happy we did! The two of them together are a great team, so professional and great at making it fun and putting people at ease. James in particular was super cute when interacting with our little nieces, getting tons of smiles out of them.
We 100% recommend that you hire James (and Laureh) for your wedding! It will be one of the best decisions you make! We're excited to use him for more events in the future!

James was EXCELLENT from start to finish he produced pictures that were authentic and real - from candids to formals and his eye for lighting is impeccable! His standards are high so his quality is incomparable. His photos are stunning. We chose James because we loved his work (specifically his night sky photos - so cool - granted you can’t always get them especially if it’s a full moon!) and he wasn’t like every other wedding photographer!! He didn’t have the cheesy, staged wedding photos he had real, timeless photos that you’ll hang on your wall for a lifetime because they won’t go out of style.
