Amazing Experience Every Time.

Blushd Beauty has been my go-to for personal hair and makeup many times whether it be for events, weddings or special occasions. They always take into consideration what I want, as well as give recommendations as to what would be best for my skin tone and face shape. I could not recommend them MORE and if you're wondering if you should hire this team, this is your sign.

Blushd Beauty was AMAZING!

The Blushd Beauty team was nothing short of amazing! They spent the entire day working so hard on the bride, 6 bridesmaids, and 2 moms! I was a bridesmaid in my best friend’s wedding and not only did she look absolutely stunning but everyone’s hair and makeup was PERFECT! The 3 ladies that worked on us were so patient and took the time to meet our requests and do any makeup and hair touch ups after we went outside for group pictures.
At the reception I had several people say they have never seen prettier bridal party hair and makeup and that we were stunning- Thank to Blushd!

Marley, the makeup artist, matched our foundation skin tones perfectly and made us all looks so glowy and bronzed! I just loved her!

If you are looking for a hair and makeup company for your wedding, don’t hesitate to use Blushd, you won’t regret it!

I found Blushd Beauty through wedding wire and Instagram. I was hesitant since I wasn't going through a referral from a friend or anyone I knew, but I am SO glad that I chose Blushd Beauty! From the start, they were very responsive. Probably a week before, Makeal called me to go over every little detail. My venue did not allow my bridesmaids and I on location until later in the afternoon, so the make up artist had to meet us at our apartment. They were SO flexible and so much fun. The weather on the day of our wedding was not ideal. It was rainy and humid. I had wanted my hair down and curly, but the team recommended that I put it up. Of course I was bummed because I had this specific look in my mind. HOWEVER- I am so glad that I listened to their professional opinion. I had never considered doing an updo, but I ended up loving it so much more than my normal down hairdo. It ended up raining at the time of the ceremony, and if my hair was down it would have been a mess! We all had different braids incorporated into our hair and we loved it!! Choose Blushd Beauty if you are in the Austin area!!!Loveeeed it!

If you're looking for quality, considerate, and both classic and trendy styles - Blushd is the pick. :)

We used Blushd for 7 hair services and Allan seriously rocked it! Every girl felt so happy with the final product and it lasted through the night.

Disappointing

I had the Blushd team do hair and makeup for me and 6 wedding party members for my wedding in Wimberley recently. I did not book a trial initially, based on Blushd recommendations on Instragram, but ended up trying to book one a month out from the wedding (as I got nervous about it haha) i wasn’t able to schedule a trial late due to their availability which was understandable. While all my attendants hair and makeup was really great the day of, I was pretty disappointed with mine. My hair looked decent, but pretty far from the inspiration photos I had brought, as well as my clip-in extensions were showing all night, and I had to have the photographer and my bridesmaids help me adjust my hair to avoid them sticking out. I was most disappointed by my makeup. I wanted a fresh, natural look but ended up being incredibly orange, which is super noticeable in all my photos. I would definitely recommend doing a trial and booking far in advance, as well as do not go last if you are the bride! By the time my hair/makeup was done, there was no time for adjustments. The artists were super nice and fun, but for the price I was a little disappointed.

My $600 Review

We chose Blushd Beauty because they were a preferred vendor by our venue in Austin, and their instagram was amazing. I booked them without trial (I cannot stress this enough future brides - pay the extra money and do a trial before you hire ANYONE) last May (2018) and did not have my trials until this past February (2019). I scheduled to have my trails done on a bank holiday that I was already off work for because Blushd explained that they only do trials out of their San Marcos location - even though neither my hair, nor makeup artists lived within 2 hours of that location - and only during the day Monday - Thursday. While I understand they are usually booked on Fridays and Saturdays, I'm not sure why this couldn't have been done on a Sunday. Thankfully I was already off work, otherwise I would have had to use a vacation day - which I really needed for my wedding and honeymoon - to drive 3 hrs to pay $175 to have my hair and makeup done.
Once I arrived at my appointment, my hair stylist (Lauren) was there, but the makeup artist (Nicole) was late. She asked if I had bridal portraits that day or if I was just doing my trials for fun, I explained I was just doing my trial, and thank the Lord I didn't have my bridals scheduled after that because we would have really been in trouble. I showed them both visions from my Pinterest board as well as their own instagram and let them go to town. Throughout the process I noticed a few things:
1) I am all for a good drug store find, but their "lead MUA" had the kit of a teenager at best. I saw 1-2 good quality pallets but everything else was drug store brand and quality.
2) She used a foundation I have never even heard of on my face, with a DRY BEAUTY BLENDER. I'm no professional, but I do know that is not how that works. At all. The company later told me that she used a foundation that can "only be purchased by professional licensed MUAs". I find this hard to believe, especially given how bad it was.
3) While she is putting my makeup on we discuss that my skin is a little dry (because its February/Winter..) and I mention that "I probably don't drink as much water as I should, but my skin gets like this ever winter", she nods in understanding and continues to apply makeup.
An hour or so later they finished and had me turn around. I was speechless for a good 60-90 seconds. I didn't know what to say. I don't consider myself Miss USA but I looked like a geisha going to a county fair. As professionals, you would think that if I request something that they know will not work with my hair length/texture, or colors that don't work with my skin tone, they would make other suggestions. In this case, they "just did what I asked for" and somehow that resulted in the ugliest I have ever been.
The Hair: I had asked for a looser updo with curls. What I got was a large dome around my head, and when she got to the top where the bun was supposed to be, she took the remaining 3 inches of hair and made a bun out of a combover. I wish this was an exaggeration but this literally what happened. Then sprayed that with hair spray and called it a day. Did not make another suggestion, did not stop and say "yeah this isn't gonna work" just left me looking insane. I have no pictures of the hair because I was pulling out bobby pins the moment I walked to the door until I got to my car.
The Makeup: This was by far the worst makeup application I have ever received and I have had my makeup done professionally for events many times. The foundation was pale white and I had been tanning - did not match my skin at all. Lip and eye liner were smudged and uneven. Foundation and lip stick were crumbling within minutes of application. She used a bronze eye shadow and a bright pink lip that made my teeth look yellow. It was just all wrong. In every way. If you are a fan of The Office, I looked like when Phyllis takes Karen for a makeover before their sales call. I was so blown away by how bad every single thing was.
And they knew it was bad, because the MOMENT I left I got a call and a voicemail from the owner to discuss my appointment. I did not answer because I was too busy bawling and calling my planner and every makeup company in Austin to check availability because I knew I could not move forward with Blushd after that appt. I did not want them touching me, or any of my friends on my wedding day. Soon after the call and voicemail I received the longest email I have ever seen that basically explained that my makeup looked bad because "I mentioned my face was dry and that I didn't drink enough water", in addition it admitted that the artists did not leave feeling comfortable with their work - but neither tried to fix it either - and basically telling me how all these things going wrong were actually a good thing so they know what to do to be best prepared on the big day. First off - no - a trial is to show me how I will look ON MY WEDDING DAY - Thank GOD I did not have Bridals scheduled with my photographer that day because that would have been cancelled REAL quick. After countless emails, Blushd did offer me many options, they offered a new makeup artist for me and another trial - that I would have to take off work for & drive to, they offered me a local Houston (where we live) artist to do another trial but would have to be paid for, and I would have to pay for the Houston artist to travel to Austin. At the end of the day I was not comfortable moving forward after their LEAD artists had messed up so horribly.
After many conversations, they agreed to refund my trials and threw in some extra for wasting my time and gas which was very appreciative. I had considered keeping them on for hair ONLY so we did not lose our $600+ deposit. They explained to me that since the contract was for 10+ hair and makeup services, they would still charge for the full makeup services, used or not, but that they would remove the bridal one if I wanted to bring in someone else just for me. This was unacceptable, to ask me to continue to spend that cost after the experience I had was so upsetting. We decided to cancel them completely and even given the horrendous experience, refused to refund our deposit. This was by far the worst part. I understand that contracts lock artists in place for that event and they refuse other jobs because of it, but this was still 4 months out. As if wasting time and money weren't enough, now we had to eat $600+ AND find a new company, pay a new deposit, new trials, etc. We ended up going with a local Houston company and paying the extra cost to have them travel to Austin because it was just so worth it just for peace of mind at that point to know I was getting quality services.
The nicest thing I can say is they did offer everything they could BUT give me my deposit back to make things right. If you are considering Blushd, do your trials before signing your contract and make sure you know who is on your services.
