1022 Café & Gelateria started as a friendship in 1991 when we (Conor and Eric, the owners of 1022) were born. As kids, our stubbornness for flavor aggravated everybody around us. This stubbornness blossomed into even more stubbornness and ultimately created a duo of incredibly specific culinary consumers. Best friends since childhood, our friendship has remained constant throughout over thirty years of challenges.

What we provide stems from vision, passion, and technical expertise in curating quality ingredients to create unmatched flavor in Gelato and Coffee. We have created a single storefront in our hometown that boasts the flavors we believe San Diego deserves.

We have put everything we have into proving this concept, and it's working. We have 5.0 stars on Yelp! and Google. We have the highest rating of any gelato shop in San Diego.

We provide up to four flavors of gelato for events of all shapes and sizes. The Italian gelato display case in our storefront is a focal point of our product, and we have two catering containers made by the same company to bring you temperature-controlled and gorgeous gelato with ease. We set up AND host the serving of gelato at your event.

Our gelato is traditional and authentic, made in-house every day. Every customer that comes into our shop can taste the passion and perfection that we try to curate in each flavor.

We are most known for our pistachio gelato, and we source our pistachios straight from Mount Etna, the volcano in Sicily. Although they are expensive to import, the flavor profile is unmatched.
