Invites- is my RSVP date too late?? Plus, when to send invites

Lauren, on March 2, 2015 at 9:27 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 21

I just finished labeling and addressing all my invites....took most of the day but I'm so glad it's done! Wedding is June 27, and the RSVP date is June 5. Is that too late?? I've heard the average is 3-4 weeks before wedding, but one of my friends just told me that June 5 was kind of late! Eek. Well after all this work I'm not changing them, so when should I send invites?? I'm thinking last week of April...

I don't think it's too late depending on what all you have riding on how many people are coming. In my case there are certain things that I would like to do but I will not be able to add into the budget if too many people rsvp. The only thing I really have to wait to do till I get the rsvps back is the seating chart. As long as you can get done what you have to leave till then in that amount of time it's not a problem.

For the RSVP date, you start with when your venue will require a final count. Then you probably allow a week before that to chase down the people who fail to send back RSVPs, even though you have sent them a nice little card with a pre-stamped envelope, and done everything but guided their hand in checking off the boxes on it.

It all depends on when your venue needs the final numbers. My venue needs them two weeks before my wedding which is June 19, so I'm requesting them back by June 10, so i'll have about a week so follow up with people who haven't responded.

I agree ask your caterer when they need to know and add a week.

It depends on your venue - my wedding is April 11th and my final count is due April 1st. March 12th is the last day to book a room in the hotel block, so I made my RSVP date the 12th as well, that way people only have one date to remember, and it gives me time to hunt down any stragglers.

Ask your caterer/Venue....Mine doesn't need the final numbers until the week before, which would be May 30th, I asked for them to be back May 16th (as May 23rd is Memorial Weekend and I didn't want to try and get ahold of anyone during a holiday weekend) and I will send them out the end of this month

May 2 date, I sent mine out last week. But I also skipped STDs since I pushed my date up so fast

I think 6-8 before is good.

Our final count is due 2 weeks before the wedding. My wedding is June 6th and my RSVP is due May 5th. I left 2 weeks before the final count is due so I have plenty of time to make the seating chart for the reception. We have 250 guests so we need the time. Really it depends on what you are comfortable with.

My wedding date is the same as yours my rsvp is due May 22nd but it's only because I know Im going to have to track down my family for answers. I'm not sure exactly when I'm sending them out though. I ordered them and I should have them by tomorrow.

My RSVP date is 3 weeks before the wedding, but our caterer/venue doesn't need a final count until 10 days before the wedding, so this gives me an extra week and a half.

Check with your caterer/venue as to when they will need your final count and add about 2 weeks to that, so that you have time to get in touch with those that miss your RSVP date.

I think when you send out your invites depends on how many OOT guests you have coming.

90% of our guests are OOT and 40% of those are coming from other states. We are sending our invites out about 3.5 to 4 months out, as mail service isn't always the fastest, and this will give our OOT guests enough time to get the invite, send back the RSVP and make their final travel arrangements.

We have the same date, and I haven't even ordered invitations yet.. but it's on my list for this week. I was going to have end of May for my RSVP date. I agree with others though, it depends when your caterer needs final numbers by. Mine said a week before the date, he would call me for final numbers.

    Wedding is 10/10

    RSVP reply by 9/12

I hate the idea of chasing ppl down. If you don't send the reply you must not really want to come and should be an assumed regret.

I'll spend a couple day and call non-reply. If I need to leave a message, that message will be.....I know life gets busy sometimes, if I don't here from you by the end of the week I'll assume you are unable to attend.

Personally, I would set my response date to a month before the wedding date. Especially if my caterers need a count.

    Wedding: 05/08

    RSVP reply: 04/01

We mailed our invite Jan. 19th. All of are guests are from OOT

Our date is June 20. Sending Invites out at the beginning of April. RSVP date is May 20.

His cousin's wedding is May 23. We wanted to have the date before their wedding but not more than a month before ours. Plus that's Memorial Day weekend.

    Sending them June 1st

Venue needs final headcount 10 days prior, but I want to give myself 2 weeks to hunt down those who didn't send RSVP and giving myself some time in case anything happens.

Hi Date twin! Sending ours out end of march/beginning of april and our RSVP date is June 2. I agree to talk to your venue and caterer. I'm supposed to have the numbers in 2 weeks prior to the wedding, so I gave myself time to hunt down missing rsvp's!
